Teacher Education


India has large numbers of teacher staffs and need many more for better development of education field. As all processes of teacher recruitment, training, selection, motivation, incentives, retention and feedback therefore this should be planned on large scale. There are ultimate goal in servicer teacher development should be ensure that optimal learning takes place in the classrooms.


  • To enhance the institutional capacity available at the present for encouraging and enhancing the adequate supple chain of trained teachers for all levels of school education.
  • To optimize all possible kinds of educational institutions including university departments of education and teacher training institutions in the private sector, for in service training of the existing cadre at all levels, in addition to state institutions, including CTEs.
  • To recognize teacher education (for all levels of school education, from pre-school to higher secondary) for the sector of higher education and to accelerate co-operation and collaboration between institutes of teacher training and colleges general education or universities with a view to communicate between different departments of a local college (or universities) for e.g. science, languages, social sciences etc. and the institute of teacher training staff.
  • To visualize a comprehensive model of teacher education, utilizing the Chattopadhyay commission report and updating its perspective and ensuring that progress towards a new way, comprehensive model is paralleled by obligatory softening in policies of teacher recruitment model, development and service conditions, including honorarium.
  • To develop module policy and frame work for teacher education which is compatible with the vision of the NCF, 2005 and to translate it into imaginative curriculum and textbooks for preservice courses and sets of in-service training material suited to diverse various conditions and needs.
  • To present about cooperation between institutional structure operating at different levels, for e.g. NCERT & NCTE at national level, SCERTs and boards of education at state level. DIETs and undergraduate colleges at the district level and so on.




      There are different diploma courses available in the education and teaching field in India diploma in elementary education [D.EI. Ed], post graduate diploma in educational counselling, diploma in teaching education, diploma in English language teaching etc.


Teaching and education field is very vast field where lots of people get opportunity to teach and educate students. Education and teaching fields include various graduate degrees, post graduate degrees, Masters as well as PH. D degrees are offered.                                                                                             

  • In undergraduate level: - bachelor in physical education, bachelor in education, B.Sc. Bachelor of education, B.A. Bachelor of education, bachelor of education in English.
  • Post graduate diploma includes: - post graduate diploma in teaching writing, post graduate diploma in pre -primary teachers training etc.
  • Masters include: - master of physical education, M. Phil.in education, master of education and master of education special education (hearing impairment) [M.Ed. Sp.Ed.(HI)].
  • PH. D includes: - Ph.D. in Education, PH. D programme etc.


Eligibility Criteria: -

  1. Undergraduate level: -

Criteria for undergraduate level students minimum percentage should be 50 % - 55 % in 10+2 from recognized board or university or students have to clear entrance exam.For B.Ed. admission may vary from college to college.


  1. Post graduate level: -

For post graduate level students to get admission in MEd, students must have qualified your bachelor of education course with an aggregate score of 50%-60% from a recognised board or university.


Entrance Exams: -


For education teaching field various entrance exams are to be conducted for getting admission undergraduate or for post graduate students. For B.Ed. entrance exams are RIE CEE, IPU CET, BHU CET, CG PRE-B. ED, GLAET etc. there are various entrance exams which are conducted under state wise.



Future scope: -

In todays era various people are looking for jobs. But teaching is another level where teachers are creating history they are struggling hard to grow India in a vast level. Teaching is not just verbal and face to face. It has developed into E-learning modules and online web teachingstrategies as well. In this context, the opportunity has increased manifold. For instance, if somebody is a retired teacher with 20-25 years of experience, they could look for online jobs and start providing tuitions online, in India, it is quite possible that rural children would be trained this way on different subjects.


In other countries such as the UK and the US, the system is entirely different. However, teaching opportunities are plenty and the profession is one of the most respected ones.







  1. Salary


Salary of teachers it depends on which category the school is and teacher is.

  • Govt school & senior teacher: 40,000 to 60,000
  • Govt. school & junior teacher: 20,000 to 40,000
  • Best private schools: 20,000 to 40,000
  • Average private schools: 15,000-35,000
  • Low income private schools: 5,000-20,000


Apart from these categories there are lots of factors like, whether the school is located in urban area or rural area, teacher’s qualification, teacher’s grade, teachers age and etc.
