The exam will be conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Goa. It is a state level entrance exam which is conducted for various professional degree programmes. The admission will be offered on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance exam. Candidates will able to get admission in the state government/aided engineering colleges of Goa state. Candidates those seeking admissions to MBBS, BDS, BHMS (Homeopathy), BAMS (Ayurveda), Allied Health Sciences (Paramedical), & B.Sc. in Nursing courses have to appear and qualify NEET UG.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have already passed/have appeared, or are appearing at HSSC (Std. 12th Science) or equivalent examination, before the start of the academic session, are eligible to appear for GCET 2020. Candidates seeking admissions only to Pharmacy Course need not appear in Mathematics. 

Nationality:

  • Only Indian nationals can apply.
  • Non-resident Indians or NRI with a valid passport can also apply under-seat reserved for NRI category.
  • Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are also eligible for admissions to seats under NRI category.

Age limit:

  • There is no restriction on the lower and upper age limit for admission in Pharmacy and Engineering courses.

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have pass 10 + 2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
    He/she should have Physics, Mathematics, and English as a mandatory subject and any one of following the additional subject in Chemistry/ Biotechnology/Biology/ Computer Science. Candidates must have scored at least 45% marks aggregate for the general group and 40% for SC/ST/PH candidates.

 

GCET 2020 Eligibility

Candidates applying for admission to the courses offered in the state through GCET will have to comply with the following eligibility norms. 

Nationality:

  1. Candidates should be an Indian National
  2. Non-resident Indians holding Indian passport may also apply for seats reserved under NRI category.
  3. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) /Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders are also considered eligible for admissions to seats under NRI Category.
  4. Foreign Nationals must apply to Govt. of India.

Valid score:

  • Aspirants must have appeared and obtained valid score in GCET conducted for the year of admission. GCET score of the previous year/s is not considered valid.
  • For Architecture, aspirant must have appeared and obtained valid score at NATA conducted by Council of Architecture.

Qualifying Examination & Minimum Marks:

  • Candidates should have cleared the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination of the Goa Board or an examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, or any other examination equivalent to the H.S.S.C.examination of Goa Board.
  • They must also have acquired the minimum percentage of marks in the specific subjects.

First Year B.E.:

  1. Aspirants should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science /Biology, and secured not less than 45% marks in the aggregate of subjects of Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology. (40% for the applicants belonging to SC, ST and OBC only).
  2. Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects and secured at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% aggregate marks for applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC).

OR

  • 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks.

OR

  1. International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.
  2. Applicants scoring minimum 80/200 at NATA are eligible for admission to B.Arch.,provided NATA score is obtained by answering NATA exam before last date of submission of admission form.

Kashmiri Migrants only in Engineering Courses:

  • The applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XIIth) examination or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology and secured not less than 45% marks in the subjects of Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Computer Science/Biology.


Diploma/BSc Degree holder:

  1. Candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering /B.Sc. Degree with Mathematics as a subject at Std XIIth , with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC), were eligible for admission to First Year of Engineering Degree Courses, subject to vacancies in First Year, after vacancies at Lateral Entry into Direct Second Year are exhausted.
  2. The merit list of such candidates are prepared on the basis of aggregate marks scored at qualifying exam.

Physics:

Electrostatics and Current electricity, Atoms and nuclei, Magnetic effects of current and magnetism, Electromagnetic induction and alternating currents, Electromagnetic waves, Optics, Dual nature of matter and radiation, Electronic devices and Communication systems.

Chemistry:

Solid state, Electrochemistry, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical kinetics, Surface chemistry, General principles and processes of isolation of elements, P-block elements, D and F block elements, Coordination compounds, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohols, phenols and ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones and carboxylic acids, Organic compounds containing nitrogen, Bio-molecules, Polymers.

Maths:

Relations and functions, Algebra, Calculus, Vectors and three-dimensional geometry, Linear programming, Probability.
