About NID DAT 2025

The National Institute of Design conducts NID Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT) for the aspirants seeking B.Des and M.Des admission at NID campuses and other result sharing institutes. NID DAT prelims exam will be conducted in last week of December ,2024 in pen and paper mode. Aspirants can now start filling the NID DAT 2025 application form online which is available on the official website. The last date to fill the NID DAT application form 2025 with regular fee is December, 2024. Aspirants are advised to check the NID DAT eligibility criteria before filling the application form. Aspirants can fill the application form of NID DAT 2025 by paying the late fee in December, 2024.

Post NID DAT registration, the window to edit the NID DAT 2025 application form will be opened on the official website in December, 2024. Applicants can review and edit the details (if required) filled in the application form while registering. However, applicants are not allowed to change their programme applied in, candidate's name, date of birth, registered mobile number & registered email ID in the window to edit the application form. Applicants have to pay the applicable additional application form fees if they change their applied category during the “Window to Edit” period. In the case of any category change, the excess fee paid during the registration will not be refunded.

The Institute will release the NID DAT 2025 admit card in December, 2024 on the official website admissions.nid.edu. Aspirants can download the NID DAT admit card 2025 online by providing the required login details. Candidates must carry the NID DAT admit card along with a valid identity card to the test centres for verification purpose. NID DAT prelims exam is scheduled in last week of December ,2024 national cities. NID DAT result will be announced in March on the official website. NID will conduct the NID DAT counselling to offer admission to the shortlisted candidates.

What is NID DAT?

NID Design Aptitude Test commonly known as NID DAT is a two-tier design entrance test that consists of prelims exam and mains exam. The entrance test is conducted every year at the national level to shortlist students for B.Des and M.Des admission offered by NIDs campuses. NID DAT is conducted to assess candidates' knowledge, skill and behavioural abilities. NID admission is wholly based on candidates performance in NID DAT.

The 4-years B.Des programmes are offered at NID Ahmedabad, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Assam. Whereas 2.5-years M.Des programmes are offered at NID Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Bengaluru.

The application form of NID DAT 2025 is available on the official website of NID from October to December , 2024. National Institute of Design will open the correction window to edit the application form in December, 2024. Candidates belonging to general and OBC-NCL category have to pay Rs 3000 as application fee while those who are from SC, ST, SC- PwD, ST – PwD, Open – PwD, OBC – NCL – PwD pay Rs 1500. NID DAT 2023 Eligibility Criteria

NID B.Des Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit:

General Category and General EWS Category (Indian Nationals): Candidates born on or after 1 July 2004 are eligible to apply.
Reserved Category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST) (Indian Nationals): Candidates born on or after 1 July 2001 are eligible to apply.
PWD Reserved Category (Indian Nationals): Candidates born on or after 1 July 1999 are eligible to apply.
Overseas (Supernumerary) Category (Foreign Nationals): Candidates born on or after 1 July 2004 are eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must have completed their 10+2 or equivalent final examination from a recognized board (AISSE/ICSE/CBSE).
Students appearing for their higher secondary examination in the academic year 2025 can also apply for the NID DAT exam.
Candidates who have passed or are appearing for the higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities, etc.) from any recognized board (CBSE, IB, ICSE, or equivalent) are eligible for the academic year 2025-26.

NID M.Des Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit:

General Category & General EWS Category (Indian Nationals): Candidates born on or after 1 July 1993 are eligible to apply.
Reserved Category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST) (Indian Nationals): Candidates born on or after 1 July 1990 are eligible to apply.
PWD Reserved Category (Indian Nationals): Candidates born on or after 1 July 1988 are eligible to apply.
Overseas (Supernumerary) Category (Foreign Nationals): Candidates born on or after 1 July 1993 are eligible to apply.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must meet the age criteria and possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree of at least 4 years in any specialization, after 12th standard or equivalent, from a recognized university/institute in India. Candidates must have appeared for all subjects and cleared any backlogs of the Bachelor's degree by 30 June 2025.
A full-time Diploma of at least 4 years in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/Architecture, after 12th standard or equivalent, from a recognized university/institute in India. Candidates must have appeared for all subjects and cleared any backlogs by 30 June 2025.
A Bachelor's degree of at least 3 years in any specialization, after 12th standard or equivalent, from a recognized university/institute in India. Candidates must have passed the 3-year Bachelor's degree examinations by August 2024.
