 NMAT 2023: Key Changes in Exam

  1. Two Testing Modes: GMAC has introduced Online Proctored Exam from Home along with Centre Based online Exam. Candidates have the option to take the test either at test centre with social distancing protocols or to take the online proctored exam from the comfort of their home.
  2. Longer Testing Window: NMAT 2023 has a longer testing window of 75 days
  3. Long Registration Window: NMAT has a long registration and application window of more than three months starting from August and going upto November 2023
  4. Fewer Questions with same Test duration: NMAT 2023 consists of 108 questions instead of 120 questions earlier, while exam duration remains same with 120 minutes
  5. Equal Sectional Weightage: All the 3 sections in NMAT 2023 have equal weightage.
  6. Negative Marking in NMAT 2023: There will no negative marking in NMAT question paper
  7. Check Score Immediately after the Exam: Facility is available for instant score preview and official score card within 48 hours of the exam for Candidates and Schools.  The NMAT 2023 Scorecards can be downloaded within 48 hours of taking the NMAT exam. Besides, you will be informed once Scorecard is available for download. The scorecards can be downloaded till March 31, 2023. 

NMAT 2023 Exam Pattern & Structure

NMAT by GMACTM would be an objective type multiple-choice test. (There will be no descriptive type questions). The NMAT by GMACTM will comprise the following:

i) Language Skills - 32 (No of Questions); Allotted Time 22 minutes

ii) Quantitative Skills - 48 (No of Questions); Allotted Time - 60 Minutes

iii) Logical Reasoning - 40 (No of Questions); Allotted Time - 38 Minutes

Total Questions: 120 and; Duration: 120

The candidate should note that it is important for them to perform well relative to other candidates in each of the 3 sections of the test as the score of each section and the overall score will be used to shortlist the candidate for the second stage of the selection process as well as in the final ranking

Please note that if the candidate is not satisfied by his/her NMAT by GMACTM score in the first attempt he/she may appear for the test by going through the full process as a fresh MNMAT by GMACTM test by visiting NMAT.org.in and NMIMS (Deemed to-be-University) website both mandatorily & logging in with the allotted username and password

The scores of all the attempts taken by the candidate will be declared on www.nmat.org.in and the shortlisting for the next round of NMIMS admission process (CD/ PI) as per the preference of the program will be declared on www.nmims.edu website

 

For MBA & MBA (HR): The candidates must be the Bachelor’s degree (10+2+3/ 4) in any discipline with minimum 50% marks in the first attempt from a recognized university for MBA and MBA HR course (Mumbai Campus)

For MBA (Pharmaceutical Management): The candidates must be the Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3/4) in Pharmacy, Science, Life Sciences, Medical doctors MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biotechnology from a UGC recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate in first attempt. Post Graduate degree in Economics, Psychology and Sociology can also apply

Candidates with B.Tech & B.E in Bio-Tech & Bio-Medical are also eligible to apply

Candidates working in Pharmaceutical Companies for more than two years are preferred

Candidates must be the Bachelor's Degree (10+2+3/ 4) in any discipline from a UGC recognized

University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate

The candidate must have completed graduation in the stipulated duration as per the respective University/ Institution awarding the degree

Those candidates who have cleared their graduation by doing a part-time course or through distance learning, correspondence courses, externally, open school are not eligible to apply

For all the full time programs, candidates who are appearing for the final examination of their Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply (Provisional admission is subject to clearing the final examination of their Bachelor’s degree with 50% aggregate marks) and selected candidates must produce all the necessary documents, in original, within the given stipulated time

For all the Full Time programs, candidates having two and more years of post qualification work experience will be preferred

At the time of admission, the candidate should have cleared all the trimesters/ semesters of the Program. No exam of any previous Semester/ Trimester to the final Semester/ Trimester examination be held subsequent to the final Semester/ Trimester Exam. No result of any previous Semester/ Trimester examination to the final Semester/ Trimester examination be declared subsequent to the declaration of the result or the final Semester/ Trimester Exam

Those candidates who have passed, or, have appeared for graduation examination from a University where Grade Point Average is given, such candidates must produce in writing from the University concerned about the equivalent percentage for the GPA/ CGPA obtained

It is sole responsibility of the candidates to ascertain whether they possess the necessary and requisite qualification for the admission at NMIMS

NMAT Syllabus 2023 with three major sections on English Language, Quant and Logical Reasoning is revamped with sectional changes and different type of questions appearing in each section of NMAT exam. GMAC releases every year the changes in NMAT syllabus with test taking strategy and expected type of questions in the exam as per the NMAT exam syllabus.   

Accordingly, the topics for NMAT Exam syllabus go on changing and there are many topics in NMAT syllabus 2023 on which questions, which did not appear earlier, may appear again this year. With effect from 2022 the NMAT exam syllabus has seen consistent changes with major overhaul in the exam pattern. Recently, GMAC has also released the NMAT preparation guide in accordance with the changed NMAT 2023 exam syllabus.
