Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

Eligibility criteria align with UGC (Minimum Standards & Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree No. CG-DL-E-07112022-240086) and COEP Tech Ph.D. Program rules. Candidates must refer to the “Guidelines-Rules-and-Regulations-Ph.D.-Programs-w.e.-f.-Nov-2024.pdf” for detailed information.

Applications will be reviewed based on submitted data. False or incorrect information will result in rejection or cancellation of admission.

Department-Specific Eligibility:

1. Engineering and Technology
   • A 2-year master’s degree in engineering/technology after a 4-year bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
   • Equivalent foreign qualifications accredited by authorized agencies are also accepted.
2. Sciences and Humanities
   • A 2-year master’s degree in science, humanities, or computer applications after a relevant bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
   • Equivalent foreign qualifications accredited by authorized agencies are acceptable.
3. Planning
   • A 1- or 2-year master’s degree in planning, remote sensing, or GIS (after a 4-year bachelor’s in planning/architecture/civil engineering) with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade.
   • Equivalent foreign qualifications accredited by authorized agencies are acceptable.

Additional Notes:

• Relaxation: Reserved categories, PwD, and specific groups get a 5% relaxation in marks or 0.5 in CGPA.
• Fellowship Holders: Candidates with fellowships from recognized organizations (e.g., CSIR, UGC, DRDO) and at least 2 years of work experience are eligible.
• Professionals: Candidates working in national laboratories, government sectors, or industry can apply if meeting criteria.
• Outstanding Graduates: B.E./B.Tech. graduates with 75%+ marks or CGPA 8.0+ may apply with DRC and RRC approval.
• Foreign Candidates: Rules also apply to foreign candidates with master’s degrees from Indian universities.
• Interdisciplinary Areas: Applicants from different domains or international candidates may apply with proven aptitude, subject to approval by DRC and RRC.
• Independent Research: Exceptional candidates may be allowed to pursue Ph.D. without a supervisor under RRC approval.
• Integrated Ph.D.: Outstanding COEP master’s students may transition to an integrated Ph.D. with supervisor and committee recommendations.
