About Architecture:


The profession of architecture includes designing buildings, communities, and other artificial constructions and environments. It may also include design or selection of furnishings, supervision of construction work, and also the examination, restoration, or remodelling of existing buildings.

Architects design buildings and other structures according to client specifications, taking into consideration issues such as the location and topography of the building site, surrounding structural styles and the intended use of the planned structure. In addition to the building design, architects may prepare estimates of time, material and labour costs, as well as coordinate construction of the project through oversight of bidding, permitting and construction.

Basically, an Architect provides professional guidance with respect to the execution of construction projects. But his role goes beyond this. He indulges in client discussions, preparation of the blueprint, budget decisions engineering, supervision, final execution, studying the environmental impact of a certain project and undertaking tasks such as site selection and materials supervision.

Students who pursue a degree in architectural studies are creative, analytical and proficient at using computer software.

Eligibility:

Under graduate Level

  • Diploma: Minimum educational qualification required is 10th pass from a recognized board. Candidates who have higher qualification (such as 12th pass) can also pursue this course.
  • B.Arch.: Minimum educational qualification required is 12th pass with PCM subjects from a recognized board OR equivalent architecture qualification.

Post graduate Level

  • Minimum educational qualification required is B.Arch. or equivalent qualification in B.Arch. (recognized by the CoA).

Doctoral Level

  • Completed Master’s Degree in Architecture (Specialization or General) OR Completed Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Art History or Civil Engineering.

Salary

As an architect, you will earn a starting salary about Rs. 4 Lac to Rs. 5 Lacs per annum. The salary will increase along with your experience in this field. Candidates having a work experience of over 5 years can get salary in between Rs. 8 Lac to Rs. 10 Lacs per year. The salary is high in the private sector as compared to the government sector. The salary also depends upon your job profile, company, location & work experience.
