Admission to BA (H) and B.Sc (H) courses depends on candidates scores in Presidency University Bachelor Degree Entrance Test (PUBDET)  directed by WBJEEB. 

For MA and M.Sc courses, candidates scores in Presidency University Master Degree Entrance Test (PUMDET) is likewise directed by WBJEEB. 

Last affirmation is liable to candiadates merit in PUBDET/PUMDET followed by directing rounds for the shortlisted applicants. The merit list is set up by WBJEEB for PU candidates 

Administration University additionally offers admission to Ph.D. seminars based on applicants' performance in CSIR NET/UGC NET. 

Last admission to Ph.D. is dependent upon a meeting round led by the admission commitee for the shortlisted candidates.

In a scenario if there is any discrepancy then the candidate will be informed by means of SMS on their registered mobile number. After this, the candidate would have to log in through his/her registered account and upload the correct information.

Things that aspirants need to keep in mind while filling PUBDET application form are as mentioned below:

  • Candidates should mention their unique mobile number and email ID in their application form.
  • Details mentioned in the application form should match the information present in the candidate’s photo identity cards, school admit cards, mark sheets, certificates, caste/category certificates etc.
  • Aspirants should upload scanned copy of photograph, signature and left thumb impression in their application form as per details mentioned in the Information Bulletin.
  • If an SMS/email regarding discrepancy in the photograph/signature/LTI uploaded by the candidate is received then they should take corrective action immediately, within one day.
  • Check payment status and do not wait for the last day to make fee payment in order to avoid payment failure by Bank or EPG.

Keep copies of confirmation page and admit card in safe custody. No duplicate copy will be issued if they are misplaced. 

PUBDET Pattern 2023

PUBDET exam pattern is such that all the questions asked in the exam are in English language except for subjects like Hindi and Bengali. PUBDET exam comprises of multiple choice questions (MCQs) which have four options each. Candidates need to mark the correct answer on an OMR sheet.

PUBDET Marking Scheme: In PUBDET exam, for every correct answer marked by an aspirant, he/she will be awarded 2 marks and for every wrong answer marked ½ marks would be deducted from an aspirant’s total score. If an aspirant does not mark any answer for a question, zero marks would be given for such a response. Further the official website informs, “For any combination of response with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks”.

 

PUBDET 2023 Eligibility

The qualification rules for admission to the Ph.D research program are as per the following: 

  • Only UGC or UGC-CSIR NET/NET-LS qualified competitors will be qualified for affirmation. 
  • Graduate degree or an expert degree pronounced identical to the Master's qualification by the relating legal, administrative body, with at least 55% of marks in total or its equal evaluation 'B'. 
  • M.Phil. Degree with at any rate 55% marks in total or its comparable evaluation 'B' in the UGC 7 – point scale in the M.Phil. Program coursework. 
  • An relaxation of 5% of marks will be given to the students who belong SC/ST class.

Bengali

The candidate can apply from Arts / Science stream at 10+2 level. The candidate should have Bengali as one subject with 60% marks in Bengali.

English

The candidate can apply from Arts / Science stream at 10+2 level. The candidate should have English as one subject with 65% marks in English-A (WBHS) or 75% in English.

History

The candidate has to apply from Arts stream at 10+2 level. The candidate should have History as one of the subjects with 65% marks in History.

Philosophy

The candidate can apply from Arts / Science / Commerce stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have English as one of the subjects with 65% marks in English.

Political Science

The candidate can apply from Arts / Science stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have English as one of the subjects with 60% marks in English.

Sociology

The candidate can apply from Arts / Science / Commerce stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have English as one of the subjects with 70% marks in English.

Hindi

The candidate can apply from Arts / Science stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have Hindi as one of the subjects with 60% marks in Hindi.

Performing Arts

The candidate having Arts / Science stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have English as one of the subjects with 60% marks in English.

Physics

The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 level. The candidate must have secured 80% in Physics and 80% in Mathematics.

Chemistry

The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 level. The candidate must have secured 80% in Chemistry.

Mathematics

The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Mathematics as one subject at 10+2 level. The candidate must have secured 80% in Mathematics.

Statistics

The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Mathematics as one subject at 10+2 level. The candidate must have secured 80% in Mathematics or 80% in Statistics (if Statistics is one of the subjects taken at the 10+2 level).

Life Sciences

The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Statistics and Biology at 10+2 level.

Economics

The candidate having Arts / Science / Commerce stream at 10+2 level. The candidate must have Mathematics (not Business Mathematics) as one of the subjects with 70% marks in English  and 75% in Mathematics.

Geography

The candidate having Arts / Science stream with any three of the following subjects at 10+2 level: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, History, Geography, Geology.

Geology

The candidate has to apply from Science stream with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at 10+2 level. The candidate must have at least 70% in each of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
