Commerce refers to the purchase and sale of goods and commodities on a large scale. Commerce is one of the most important and popular streams pursued by the students all across India and in modern times it is giving really tough competition to Science stream, which is now no more the de-facto stream for students after the advent of commerce.

The studies pertaining to business, markets, stocks, economy, book-keeping, accountancy, business policy making, production, consumption, management etc. all come under commerce. Basically all the studies related to finance or involving transactions come under the commerce stream. It is generally said that students who are good with numbers and enjoy number crunching, often do well in commerce.

The study of commerce can be taken up in higher secondary and can be continued till Under Graduation and even Post-Graduation. The fields for higher studies in commerce are:
