Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination once a year. This exam is conducted for recruiting candidates for group B and group C positions in various ministries/ departments/ organizations. SSC CGL examination is carried out in four tiers that is tier-I, II, III and IV. Tier-I and tier-II examination is computer based examination. Whereas tier-III is paper based descriptive type offline examination. Tier-IV is a skill test which includes Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) and Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). These tests recruit candidates for Indian Audit and Accounts Department under CAG, Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Railway, Ministry of External Affairs, Central Bureau of Investigation, Central Bureau of Narcotics, National Investigation Agency (NIA), etc. Out of which the position for Tax Assistants (Central Excise and Income Tax) is appointed through the DEST examination. And Candidates will have to appear for CPT examination who are willing to opt for the position of Assistant Section Officer of CSS, Assistant Section Officer (MEA), Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines.

 

 

Application process:

 

Step wise procedure of applying for SSC CGL examination form.

  • In first step candidates are required to fill all the personal details like name, parent’s name, date of birth, gender, class 10 Board roll number, etc.
  • By clicking on "Enter", candidates will receive a registration ID and password.
  • After filling all the details required in the form, candidates have to upload the scanned copy of their photograph and signature.
  • Fees are to be paid online which is Rs 100 for General and OBC category male candidates.

Eligibility Criteria:

 

Candidates applying for SSC CGL examination have to meet the criteria set by the organising board which is as given below:

 

  • Candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal / Bhutan, Tibetan refugee who have come to India for settling permanently before 1st January, 1963.
  • Candidate who is Indian originated have migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Candidates must be between the age group of 18 and 32 years, as on August 1.

 

Educational qualification according to the department and position are-

 

  • Eligibility Criteria for Assistant Audit Officer:
    • Candidate must be a graduate in any subject from a recognized University.
    • CA/ CS/ MBA/ Cost and Management Accountant/ Masters in Commerce/ Masters in Business Studies are the desired qualification.

 

  • Eligibility Criteria for Junior Statistical Officer:
    • Either bachelor’s degree with minimum of 60% in 12th class Mathematics from a recognized University.
    • Bachelor’s degree with Statistics as one of the subjects in graduation in any discipline.
