DIRECT SECOND YEAR ENGINEERING (LATERAL ENTRY)
Lateral Entry is a professional course which students can be take up after completing the Diploma as their higher secondary education. Students who are not capable to apply or are not able to take admission for the degree courses and are interested in Engineering as a professional career can opt for this course.
Students can enroll themselves in a direct second year of Engineering course, because it can allow them to transfer into the second year of the B. Tech or B.E. course. This approach is also referred to as the “backdoor to engineering degree” approach or this approach is called Lateral Entry.
Program Pattern
The duration of Course is 3 years.
This course can be of a yearly or semester pattern. Most yearly pattern courses have a duration of three years. The lateral entry programs that follow a semester pattern have a planned duration of four years, with three years of study and one year for an industrial internship.
Engineering diploma courses can be divided into two types depending upon the basic qualification required.
