1 year course consists of 2 semesters and exams are conducted by Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu. After passing out the exams conducted by the University, the cadets will be awarded DIPLOMA NAUTICAL SCIENCE by the University,The cadets will be joining on board vessel as a Trainee cadet. They will have to obtain 18 months sea service (Two yearstime will take to complete the 18 months sea experience). With this 18 months sea experience, they will undergo 4 months Second mate’s foundation course & they are eligible to appear for 2nd mate exams. After passing second mate exams, they will be promoted as Second officer.
This Diploma Nautical Science course also leads to get B.Sc degree in Nautical Science by Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu. During the first 18 months sea service, University is conducting the Distance learning Programme(DLP) by giving the necessary study material. With further sea service & exams they will be promoted to Chief Officer and then becoming Captain of the ship. The academy assists necessary guidance for placement for successful meritorius students.

ELIGIBILITY:
Pass in HSC / (10+2) From a Recognized Board with 45% Average in PCM (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics Subject). (or) B.sc in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years with an average of not less than 55% marks in the Final Year. (or) BE (or) B.Tech Degree.

Procedure for Booking of Seats, Important Dates for Admission & Joining
1. The interested candidates can book their seats by downloading the application form from the website (or) can be collected directly from the office.
2. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can reserve your seat by sending Reservation fee of Rs.5,000/- by DD in favour of “International Maritime Academy” Payable at Chennai. (Please verify your eye sight before reserve your seat). Reservation Receipt will be sent immediately. The Balance course fee has to be paid as intimated by the Academy.
3. The Course Commences at two time in a year (February/March & Aug/Sep) Contact the Office for the reservation of your seat to the Respective session.
