About NEET MDS 2023

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS) is a postgraduate medical exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Through NEET MDS 2022 scores, admission to 6,501 seats offered to 50% All India Quota seats, 50% state quota seats, deemed/central universities, ESIC, and private universities are granted. 

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has put the NEET MDS counselling 2022 on hold due to the pending clarification from the Supreme Court on the EWS quota.  NEET MDS cut off 2022 for general candidates is 50th percentile, while for SC/ST/OBC, it is 40th percentile. Based on the cutoff scores. The NEET MDS counselling 2022 for 85% state quota seats and private seats will be done by respective state counselling authorities. The state counselling authorities will conduct NEET MDS counselling in three rounds including a mop-up round.

NBE conducted the NEET MDS entrance exam on December 16, 2022. The authorities released the result for NEET MDS 2022 along with the cutoff on December 31, 2020, in the form of a merit list which included roll number, scores obtained (out of 960) and qualifying status of the candidates.

The admit card for NEET MDS 2022 was issued on December 9, 2020. NBE released the NEET MDS 2022 application form on October 26, 2020, at 05:00 PM on nbe.edu.in. NEET MDS 2022 brochure was released on October 26 with two major changes in NEET MDS application fee and exam centres. As per the prospectus, the application fee of NEET MDS 2022 for general and OBC candidates was Rs. 4425, while for SC/ST/PWD it was Rs. 3245, including GST. Also, for NEET MDS 2022 session, as many as 27 NEET MDS centres were added. Through NEET MDS 2022, around  6,501 Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS) will be offered under 50% All India Quota (AIQ), 50% state quota seats, 100% seats in deemed/central universities and private colleges.

NEET MDS 2022 exam contained 240 multiple choice questions asked from BDS curriculum. Only three hours were allotted to complete the NEET MDS exam, which is 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. As per the exam pattern of NEET MDS 2022, four marks were awarded for the correct answer, while one mark was deducted for an incorrect response.

 

 

NEET MDS eligibility criteria 2023

Every aspirant needs to fulfil the NEET MDS eligibility guidelines by NBE. Listed below are the basic eligibility guidelines for the NEET MDS entrance exam, as well as eligibility criteria for Jammu and Kashmir aspirants and Foreign Nationals.

  • In order to appear for NEET MDS 2023, aspirants must be an Indian citizen, Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), or the Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs).

  • Aspirants must possess a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree, which must be awarded by the university or institute in India under MDS course regulations 2017 issued by Dental Council of India (DCI) with the approval of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

  • Candidates also must possess a provisional or permanent registration certification issued by DCI or State Dental Council (SDC) by March 31 of the particular academic year.

  • Dental graduates must also have completed or likely to complete the 12 months rotatory internship on or before March 21, 2023. Candidates need to know that aspirants who are undergoing the rotatory internship and expected to complete before March 31, 2023, will only be considered eligible for exams. However, they will not be eligible to take admissions in MDS courses until they produce the internship certificate at the time of counselling.

NEET MDS 2023 eligibility criteria for Jammu and Kashmir aspirants

Aspirants who have studied UG dental degree from the Jammu and Kashmir will not be counted eligible to participate under 50% All India Quota (AIQ) seats. But, candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (GoI) under the central pool quota seats will be qualified for AIQ seats. However, such candidates need to submit the duly signed affidavit mentioning that he/she was nominated by GoI and have to send it to the address as mentioned below with the printout of the NEET MDS application form 2023.

NEET MDS eligibility criteria for Foreign nationals

  • According to the NEET MDS eligibility criteria 2023, it is not mandatory for foreign nationals to have the temporary registration of DCI at the time of examination.

  • Foreign nationals can take the exam without a DCI registration certificate.

  • The temporary registration certificate by DCI will be issued on the condition that the foreign national must be registered as a medical practitioner in the candidate's country.

NEET MDS Eligibility Criteria 2023 – Who are not qualified?

Read the points mentioned below extremely carefully to know on what basis, an aspirant is considered unqualified to appear in the entrance of NEET MDS.

  • Any applicant found in violation with NEET MDS 2023 eligibility conditions set by NBE will not be allowed to take up the examination.

  • In any case, if any ineligible aspirant successfully appears for the entrance examination, later his/her candidature will be cancelled.

  • As mentioned above, if candidates will not complete their 12 months rotatory internship on or before March 31 will not be considered for the NEET MDS exam.
