The National Institute of Design (NID) is internationally acclaimed as one of the foremost multi-disciplinary institutions in the field of design education and research. The Business Week, USA has listed NID as one of the top 25 European & Asian programmes in the world. The institute functions as an autonomous body under the department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. NID has been declared ‘Institution of National Importance’ by the Act of Parliament, by virtue of the National Institute of Design Act 2014.

NID 2018 Application Form:

Those who are interested in taking admission to the DAT course required to make use of official website of NID. It is advised to go through the admission details via brochure provided. Besides this, ensure to get ready with the scanned photo and signature. Make sure for filling and submitting the application form after it is filled completely. There is a requirement for paying the application fee. Suppose, candidate has chosen payment via DD or Demand Draft then send print out of application and DD at the mentioned address.

  • The application fee can be paid either through debit/credit card or through DD. The application fee for different courses is as follows-
  • For B.Des. course, pay Rs. 1500/- if belong to General category, Rs. 750/- for those belonging to OBC- NCL/SC/ST/PWD category and Rs. 1500/- for Overseas (Supernumerary)
  • For GDPD course, pay Rs 1500/- if belong to General category, Rs. 750/- for those belonging to OBC- NCL/SC/ST/PWD category and Rs. 1500/- for Overseas (Supernumerary)
  • For B.Des. & GDPD course, pay Rs. 1500/- if belong to General category, Rs. 750/- for those belonging to OBC- NCL/SC/ST/PWD category and Rs. 1500/- for Overseas (Supernumerary)
  • For M.Des Single discipline only, pay Rs 1500/- if belong to General category, Rs. 750/- for those belonging to OBC- NCL/SC/ST/PWD category and Rs. 1500/- for Overseas (Supernumerary)
  • For M.Des two disciplines, pay Rs 3000/- if belong to General category, Rs. 750/- for those belonging to OBC- NCL/SC/ST/PWD category and Rs. 1500/- for Overseas (Supernumerary)

Eligibility Criteria For Undergraduate:

  • The maximum age limit for NID 2018 will be 20 years but there is age relaxation given to those who belong to reserved category

  • Those who have completed class 12th or some equivalent examination from some recognized board can apply for the examination

NID 2018 Eligibility Criteria For  PG Course:

  • The maximum age limit decided for NID 2018-19 is 30 years but the age relaxation will be given to those who belong to reserved category

  • Candidate must have bachelor’s degree from any of the discipline under 10+2+4 (or more) system via any institution or through some recognized university in India.

Application Fee Details: One can make payment of the application fee via any sources such as Debit card, Credit card and Demand Draft.

Examination Pattern:

  • There will be proviso for only one paper in DAT

  • The exam duration will be for 3 hours
  • Question paper will appear in English language only
  • The questions will appear in Multiple Choice Questions type. Along with this subjective questions will appear
  • Question paper will be comprises of 100 marks
  • Studio test will be of 100 marks and will appear in English language only

Syllabus to Prepare for NID 2018:

The syllabus for NID 2018-19 consisted of various topics such as Composition, creativity, general mental ability, communication skills, and sensitivity to environment, drawing skills, & subject of design. As far as studio test is concerned, it comprises of various sections and that too in so many formats like practical assignment, group discussion and lots more.

Info Related to Cut off:

Cut off marks implies here the marks obtained by last candidate in 1st merit list. However, marks relaxation facility is given to reserved category candidates.

  • For OBC –NCL, it is 10% less than cut offs of General category
  • SC category, it is 20% less than the cut offs of General category
  • For ST, 20% less than the cut offs of General category
  • Physically Handicapped candidates, it is 30% less than the cut offs of General category

NID 2018 Admission Process Info:

The performance in entrance examination, studio test, and personal interview will decide the fate of candidates to NID 2018. During the time of admission, candidates need to report at the campus with the original documents and admission fee. If you failed to carry the required original documents then admission may lead to cancellation.
