Diploma in Hearing, Language and Speech (DHLS)

This diploma programme is designed to generate manpower that will cater to the needs of individuals with communication disorders at the grass-root level. In this programme the students are trained to identify individuals with communication disorders and make appropriate referrals for further diagnosis. The students are also trained to supervise the caregivers in following the guidelines given by professionals for rehabilitation. Extensive practical training is given to supplement the theoretical knowledge that is imparted.

The programme is conducted at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mysore along with eleven other study centres across the country. Theory classes will be conducted at the AIISH which is beamed real time to the study centres through video-conferencing. Practical classes will be conducted at each study centre which will be supervised by the staff of the centre.

Admission Eligibility

  • Admission to Diploma in Hearing Language and Speech is open to candidates who have passed 12th standard / II PUC with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics.
  • Candidates should be above 17 years of age.
  • Candidates should have working knowledge in English and proficiency in their regional language.
  • Preference will be given to candidates from rural areas, sponsored candidates from Government / nongovernment / voluntary agencies.
