Admission Process Begins for Direct Second Year Engineering (Lateral Entry) in Maharashtra

The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, has officially released the detailed admission schedule for Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry) to full-time undergraduate Engineering and Technology (B.E./B.Tech.) courses for the academic year 2025-26. Eligible candidates can now apply for admission into Government, Aided, University Departments, and Unaided Private Professional Institutions, including Minority institutions across Maharashtra.

Dates and Process:

• Online Registration and Document Upload:
  From 4th July 2025 to 15th July 2025 (up to 5:00 PM) via www.mahacet.org

• Document Verification:
  Candidates can choose either E-Scrutiny Mode (online verification) or Physical Scrutiny Mode (offline verification at designated centres). The verification and confirmation process will continue till 16th July 2025 (up to 5:00 PM).

• Provisional Merit List Display:
  18th July 2025

• Grievance Submission Window:
  From 19th July to 21st July 2025 (up to 5:00 PM)

• Final Merit List Display:
  23rd July 2025

Applications submitted after 15th July 2025 or confirmed after 16th July 2025 will be considered only for Non-CAP seats.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must fulfil one of the following:

• Passed a minimum of three or two years (lateral entry) Diploma in Engineering/Technology with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved/EWS/Divyang candidates from Maharashtra).

• Or, passed a B.Sc. degree with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved/EWS/Divyang) and studied Mathematics at the HSC level.

• Or, passed a 3-year D.Voc. program in the same or allied sector.

Candidates must be Indian citizens to apply.

Registration Fees:

• ₹1000 for General category candidates (Maharashtra and All India)

• ₹800 for Reserved categories (SC, ST, VJ/DT, NT(A-D), OBC, SBC, SEBC, EWS), Persons with Disability, Orphans, and Transgender candidates (Maharashtra only)

Important Instructions:

• Document Verification: Candidates selecting E-Scrutiny do not need to visit the centre; their documents will be verified online. Those opting for Physical Scrutiny must visit their chosen centre with original documents.

• Mandatory Certificates: Reserved category students must submit valid Caste/Tribe Validity, Non-Creamy Layer (valid till 31st March 2026), and EWS certificates. Failure to submit the required documents will result in being considered under the Open category.

• Seat Acceptance Fee: ₹1,000 (non-refundable) to be paid online during the first seat acceptance.

• Admission Confirmation: Final seat confirmation will be done by the allotted institute after verifying original documents.

Additional Notes:

• Help facilities and IT support are available at both E-Scrutiny and Physical Scrutiny Centres.

• Document verification centres will operate daily, including weekends, between 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM.
