The schedule for the online application process for admission to first-year junior college (Class 11) in Maharashtra is out. Mock or demo registration of students has already begun and will continue till May 24.
The actual registration process will start on May 25.
As the directorate of school education declared the tentative schedule for the online admission process of FYJC applicable in five cities — Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik and Amravati — it is expected to provide applicants with a practice session before the registration process begins.
“The idea is to avoid mistakes in registration,” said an official from the directorate. He continued, “Even as the registration process will start on May 25, the first phase will only include filing of part 1 of the form online, which includes entering details of the candidates. The second part of the form, where candidates have to provide their choice of colleges in preference order, will open after the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) result is out.”
The Maharashtra state board is yet to declare SSC results, whereas non-state boards have already announced Class 10 results. After providing enough time for candidates to complete part II of the registration form, according to the tentative schedule, there will be three Common Admission Process (CAP) rounds for the allotment of seats.
There will be two additional special CAP rounds. There will be no First Come First Served (FCFS) round this year, but daily merit lists will be declared to accommodate remaining candidates at the end of the admissions.
The directorate aims at completing the FYJC online admission process by the end of August this year. “The academic years have been delayed due to delay in completing the admissions in the past two years. This was due to delays in results during the pandemic. Now the plan is to bring back the academic calendar to normalcy,” said the official, adding that Class 11 academics will be allowed to start once the first CAP round is over.
