The March 2023 secondary and higher secondary exams (SSC and HSC) of the Maharashtra state board will be based on the entire syllabus and students will have to appear for the exams at allotted centres, said officials. Online classes forced the board to reduce the syllabus by nearly 25% for the offline board exams this year. State board chairman Sharad Gosavi said, “We will have to go back to the original rules and regulations from next year onwards. We do not see any reason why the syllabus should be reduced and the same should be noted by students to prepare accordingly. ” The board chairman said the exam centres will also be allotted to students in third-party schools as against home centres this year for the convenience of students. This year, students did not have to travel long distances to their exam centres. Sudhakar Raut, a secondary school teacher, said: “Many concessions were given to the students to ensure that offline exams were conducted without any hassle. The concessions ensured that the students kept their calm while preparing for the crucial examinations. ” The board had reduced the theory syllabus by 25% and practicals by 40% as the initial six months of the academic year were spent on online schooling. The last two months before the exam were offline, which were largely spent in revision and practical and oral exams.
