The state education department has launched a ‘mission zero-drop out’ to uphold every child’s right to education.
A special door-to-door campaign will be conducted from July 5 to 20 to identify school dropouts and encourage them to return to school. The move will entail identification and devising of ways to ensure continuance of educa-tion of children of migrant families.
School education minister Varsha Gaikwad while announcing the mission, said, “Various government departments and local bodies will work in tandem on this mission. The involvement of key community outfits, NGOs, youth welfare associations, elected representatives, celebrities etc is critical for the success of this mission.
We’re also mindful that a single drive won’t do, and that this will have to be an ongoing mission. Hence committees have been formed at the village/city, district, and state level.
” The aim of the mission is to ensure that the future generation is not deprived of the right to education, which will help them to rise above their circumstances, Gaikwad said.
She said that the pandemic had majorly affected the education of children of migrant families. “It has been noticed that many children in the age of 3 to 18 are not enrolled in school.
These children need to be brought into the flow of education and that is why we have launched this mission,” the school education minister added.
