After a delay of over one and a half months, the evaluation work of class X and XII UP Board answer copies is to begin from May 4, announced deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma on Tuesday.

Sharma, who also holds the education portfolio, said this during a video-conferencing with Union human resource development minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, along with education ministers from other states.

During the lockdown period, nearly 42.5 lakh students have been linked on WhatsApp virtual classes which began from April 20, Sharma said.

He added that the government was working on launching a YouTube channel for academic purposes till normalcy returns and schools re-open.

UP has also decided to adopt 80% NCERT syllabus in the more than 26,000 schools run by UP Secondary Education Board.

Sharma also put forth a demand for opening of more Kendriya Vidyalayas in the state.

According to the minister, there are 18 districts in UP which do not have KVs.
