Indian Institute of Astrophysics Offers Lucrative Post-Doctoral Fellowships for Physical and Mathematical Scientists
Bengaluru, India - April 8, 2024: The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), located in Bengaluru, has announced the commencement of applications for its prestigious Post-Doctoral Fellowships (PDF) for the year 2024. Aimed at nurturing and supporting talented individuals in the fields of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, this opportunity presents an avenue for scholars to further their research pursuits.
The fellowship, with a deadline set for September 30, 2024, offers a monthly stipend of up to ₹54,000, varying based on the applicant's post-doctoral experience. Fresh Ph.D. holders can anticipate a monthly fellowship of ₹47,000, while those with one to two years of post-doctoral experience will receive ₹49,000. Applicants with more than two years of post-doctoral experience are eligible for the maximum monthly stipend of ₹54,000.
In addition to the financial support, selected fellows will also benefit from book grants of up to ₹10,000 per annum, as well as access to accommodation, house rent, and medical facilities, subject to availability.
Eligible candidates, below 36 years of age, must hold a Ph.D. degree in Physical or Mathematical Sciences from a recognized institution/university. They should have completed their thesis defense at the time of application and possess significant research experience aligned with the institute's ongoing activities.
Applying for the fellowship is a streamlined process, involving registration on the official website, submission of required documents including Curriculum Vitae and mark sheets, and completion of the application form.
The selection process will be rigorous, with candidates evaluated based on their performance in interviews and adherence to eligibility criteria. The fellowship, initially spanning two years, may be extended for an additional year, subject to review every quarter.
