The CBSE Merit Scholarship for Single Girl Child is an initiative by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to support single girl children in continuing their Class 11 and 12 education. This scholarship is aimed at promoting girls education and financial assistance to meritorious students who are the only girl child in their family.
The scheme recognizes academic excellence and aims to reduce the dropout rate of girl students after Class 10.
Benefits of the Scholarship:
INR 500 per month for two years (Class 11 and Class 12).
The amount is transferred directly to the student's bank account
No tuition fee waiver, but financial aid is provided for educational expenses
Eligibility Criteria:
The applicant must be the only girl child in her family
Must have scored at least 60% marks in Class 10 board exams.
Must be studying in Class 11 and later Class 12 in a CBSE-affiliated school.
• The school must not be charging more than INR 1,500 per month as tuition fee in Class 10 (for NRI students, the maximum tuition fee limit in INR 6,000 per month).
The renewal of the scholarship for Class 12 is subject to promotion to Class 12 with at least 50% marks in Class 11.
Application Timeline:
Applications generally open in October or November every year.
The last date for application submission is usually in December.
Results and approvals are declared in January or February of the following year.
Documents Required:
Class 10 marksheet (issued by CBSE).
A certificate from the school principal confirming the applicant is a single girl child.
Tuition fee payment proof of Class 10.
Aadhaar card or identity proof
Bank account details of the applicant (for direct transfer of funds).
How to Apply for CBSE Merit Scholarship for Single Girl Child
Online Application Process: 1
. Visit the CBSE Scholarship Portal Go to https://www.chse.gov.in
2. Register Online
• Click on the Scholarships section and select "CBSE Merit Scholarship for Single Girl Child
3. Fill in the Application Form
• Enter personal details, Class 10 roll number, school details, and bank details.
4. Upload Required Document
Upload scanned copies of marksheets, certificates, and proof of
single girl child status 5. Submit Application
Verify all details and submit the application form online.
6. Print Confirmation Page
After submission, download and print the confirmation page for reference.
Renewal Process for Class 12:
Stadents who were awarded the scholarship in Class 11 mast apply for renewal in Class 12.
Renewal is granted if the student:
Has passed Class 11 with at least 50% marks.
Is still studying in a CBSE-affiliated school in Class 12.
