This is the only degree program where the students get the certificates from the Savitribai Phule Pune University as well as the University of Melbourne. The students get the degree of international standards without going abroad.
Entry level: 12th Science or equivalent with Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Mathematics
The entry point is the same for both three and four year degree program as per the National Education Policy. The students have multiple options. Career guidance will be given for each option by the placement cell.
Option 1]
After the successful completion of three years of B.Sc. Blended, the students get a separate quality assurance certificate in addition to the certificate from the Savitribai Phule Pune University.
The students can apply worldwide for higher education. Eligible to apply for masters programs for more than 25 subjects including all branches of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Applications, Forensic etc. Meritorious students get scholarships as per the rules. There are special scholarships for the B.Sc. Blended students who take admission to the University of Melbourne for higher education.
Option 2]
The student can take admission for the fourth year after the successful completion of three years. After the successful completion of four years of B.Sc.Blended, the student get the degree of Savitribai Phule Pune University and a quality assurance certificate from the University of Melbourne.
Option 3]
After the successful completion of second year, the students can take admission to the University of Melbourne for the next two years. After the successful completion of the four years, a degree from the University of Melbourne is awarded.
The student with a good academic score in four year degree can directly take admission for Ph.D. in some selected universities. Others can take admission for the masters program.
This is the only degree program where the students get certificates from two universities which makes it different from other degree programs.
B.Sc.Blended degree program has high academic standards. The syllabus is designed by the experts from UOM, SPPU, IISER and Modern College. Project is compulsory in the final year for skill development. A good project may lead to a research paper or patent. Interactions with the experts from India and abroad throughout the tenure of B.Sc.Blended. The students get an opportunity to attend the Research Camp at the University of Melbourne Campus. (Optional). Great career opportunities in India and abroad.
For the first two years; the compulsory subjects are Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Mathematics. In addition, a minimum one course of English and computer programming is needed. A bridge course for those who do not have Mathematics or Biology in 12th standard.
In the third year, in addition to the core subjects of Chemistry, the student can select an elective from any other stream of science, arts and commerce. The students have freedom to select the topic for their own interest for the project and work in a reputed research laboratory. In summer vacation, the students complete internship. Modern College has an authorized research center that encourages interdisciplinary research where the student can complete their project. A good project may lead to a research publication or patent.
Since 1992, Modern College Ganeshkhind has been involved in the undergraduate teaching learning process. The teaching faculties are experienced to develop an interdisciplinary approach among the 12th pass students who have not been much exposed to learning by doing. The college encourages extracurricular activities. Many B.Sc. Blended students were involved in the river restoration project, research project, cultural and sports events. The students present their research in conferences. The students also participate in science exhibitions. As a result, the students do well in academics as well as in extracurricular activities. That leads to their overall personality development and employability.
