Admission Process: How to Get Into NIT Trichy?
The primary route to BTech admissions at NIT Trichy is through the JEE Main exam. This is a highly competitive national-level entrance test that determines admission to NITS, IIITs, and other central government-funded technical institutes.
Step-by-Step Admission Process
1. Appear for JEE Main:
You must register for the JEE Main exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), which typically happens twice a year (January and April).
Your rank in JEE Main will be the deciding factor in securing a seat at NIT Trichy.
2. Participate in JoSAA Counselling:
After the JEE Main results are declared, you will need to register for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling process.
During JoSAA counseling, you will fill in your preferred course and institute choices (for example, CSE at NIT Trichy as your top preference).

3. Seat Allocation and Admission

• Minimum Marks Requirement:
General/OBC Category: At least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12.

OR you must be in the top 20 percentile of your respective board examination.
JEE Main Requirement:
You must qualify JEE Main with a competitive rank.
The cutoff ranks for NIT Trichy vary depending on the category and branch. For example:
