Savitribai Phule Pune University has launched a new undergraduate program in Blockchain Technology for the academic year 2025-26. This B.Sc. course includes a one-year apprenticeship for six selected students, who will also receive a monthly stipend during their apprenticeship.
The course, designed with inputs from industry experts and implemented through strategic partnerships with private sector companies, aims to equip students with in-demand skills in modern technology. The apprenticeship will provide selected students with hands-on industry experience, enhancing their employability and confidence.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and ensure students receive exposure to real-world applications of blockchain. The curriculum focuses on modern technologies like AI, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and blockchain. The program emphasises innovation, technical skill development, and career readiness.
University authorities stated that the program includes rigorous industry internships and project-based learning, allowing students to interact directly with professionals and gain valuable insights.
Dr. Anurag Gokhale, Director of the Skill Development Centre, stated,
“To compete at the global level, it is essential for students to gain hands-on experience. This program will help students become industry-ready in the digital age and develop entrepreneurial thinking through experiential learning.”
The initiative is expected to boost employment prospects and build a technically skilled talent pool in the blockchain domain.
