The University of Delhi has received 72,659 acceptances from candidates in the first round of undergraduate seat allocation under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG) 2025, according to reports. As of 9:40 pm on July 20, a total of 14,939 applications had been approved by colleges. The first CSAS-UG allocation list was released at 5 pm on July 20.
This year, the university has made 93,166 seat allocations against 71,624 total undergraduate seats, suggesting that internal shifting and reallocations are likely in subsequent rounds, as seen in previous admission cycles.
A senior university official told PTI that the high number of allocations is based on trends from previous years, where many students move across colleges. The allocations span 79 undergraduate programmes across 69 colleges, covering various categories such as General, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, Sikh Minority, PwBD, Kashmiri Migrants, Single Girl Child, and Orphan (male and female).
In category-wise allocation data, the university reported that 1,325 seats were allotted under the Single Girl Child category and 259 seats to orphan candidates, including 127 females and 132 males.
The university stated that the response to the first list was immediate. Within two hours of release, 27,533 candidates had accepted their allocated seats. The deadline for accepting the seat is 4:59 pm on July 21, followed by college-level verification and approval by 4:59 pm on July 22, and fee payment by 4:59 pm on July 23.
DU UG Admissions 2025: Admission process and programme allocation
Admissions to Delhi University for the academic year 2025 are being conducted through the CSAS-UG portal, which takes into account CUET-UG scores, reservation policies, and candidate preferences. Performance-based programme allocations, including Hindustani Music, Karnataka Music, Percussion Music, Physical Education, and Fine Art, will take place in the third round.
The university has advised candidates applying for such programmes to regularly check trial and performance schedules on respective college or department websites.
As part of its transparency measures, the university has allowed candidates to view minimum allocation scores and ranks on their individual dashboards. This data will also be published on the official admission website for public access.

The second CSAS-UG seat allocation list will be released on July 28 at 5 pm, while the academic session for first-year students is scheduled to begin on August 1, 2025.

According to data shared by the university, a total of 3,05,357 candidates registered on the CSAS portal this year.
In terms of programme preferences, BCom (Hons) emerged as the most sought-after undergraduate course, receiving 19,90,966 selections across colleges. This was followed by:
Out of the total number of applicants, 2,39,890 candidates completed the process by submitting their college and programme preferences.
Among these applicants, female candidates accounted for 1,27,284 applications (53.06%), while male candidates submitted 1,12,603 applications (46.93%).
