The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur is going to offer a new undergraduate programme in artificial intelligence and data science from the academic session 2020-21. The new BTech programme will have different courses in computer science, mathematics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and their applications in various fields.
Students can’t only choose a specialisation as part of the course but can also have the option to pursue an MBA (tech) in the fifth year as a dual-degree option.
Students who apply for the course can also take a specialisation in various areas counting visual computing, socio-digital realities, language technologies, robotics, and the Artificial Intelligence of Things. Students can also have the option to chase MBA (tech) in the fifth year as dual-degree option in the School of Management and Entrepreneurship.
Prof Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT-Jodhpur, said: “Under the broad umbrella of IIT Jodhpur’s unique proposition of AI for everything, students belonging to the academic programmes in AI, Data and Computational Sciences will be the part of scientific innovations for solving local and global engineering and social problems in close collaboration with industry. Students will be part of the institute’s initiatives for safeguarding better life and living for all with AI as the supporting force. IIT-Jodhpur would like AI and Data Science students to discover Trans disciplinary research agenda nurturing collaborative openings across all the departments of IIT Jodhpur and partner organisations.”
The IIT-Delhi has also declared to set-up ‘School of Artificial Intelligence (ScAI)’. The new school will begin there PhD programme from the next admission circle that is January 2021. The institute is also scheduling to offer postgraduate level degree courses at a later stage.
IIT-Jodhpur already has AI Supercomputer (A-100) from NVIDIA besides DGX-2 and virtual reality and improved reality lab established by Samsung.
