The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras is inviting applications for courses being offered by its Zanzibar Campus. Interested students can apply at the newly launched IIT Zanzibar website — zanzibar.iitm.ac.in.
Candidates have time till August 5 to apply for admissions at the new campus. The selection process will include a screening test (which is an aptitude test, covering mathematics, science, English and analytical ability), and interviews with faculty.
Eligibility
Students who have cleared Class 12, Form VI or equivalent in the past three years are eligible to apply to the BS programme, while those with a four year UG degree in any engineering/science discipline may apply to the MTech programmes.
IIT Madras Zanzibar campus will offer a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Data Science and AI, or a two-year Master of Technology degree in Data Science and AI. The selection will depend on the eligibility and qualifications.
Students will have access to several opportunities during their course of study, including study abroad/ semester exchange programmes with IITM’s partner institutions in the UK and Australia, among other countries, internships with various relevant companies and a chance to meet some of the course requirements at the IIT Madras campus in Chennai, India.
The programmes at the new international campus are open to students of all nationalities, including Indians.
IIT Madras alumni community has also come together to fund 50 per cent of the tuition fees for year 1 (2023-’24), for up to five deserving students. After the application process concludes, IIT Madras will contact all eligible students and ask them to apply separately to the award and review the information for making our decision. These will be announced in late September, and awardees will have a chance to interact with the sponsoring alumni online for mentorship.
Also, top 5 performers of the Zanzibar Screening Test (undergraduate) will be awarded cash awards, and the result for these will be announced in late September
