The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a prestigious national-level examination for post-graduate students in various disciplines of engineering, technology, science, architecture and humanities. GATE 2024 exam is organized by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
Eligibility
Candidates who are currently studying in third or final year of B.E./B.Tech/B.R.C./BPlanning, undergraduate degree program or who have completed any government recognized degree program in Engineering/Technology/Science/Architecture/Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2024.
Candidates who have/are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India. Candidates should be currently in third year or above or have completed their degree (minimum three years duration) in Engineering/Technology/Science/Architecture.
Any candidate fulfilling the above mentioned criteria is eligible to appear for GATE 2024.

1) Masters programs and direct doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Science/Architecture/Humanities
2) A valid GATE score can be used to gain admission to doctoral programs in relevant disciplines of Engineering/Technology/Science/Architecture/Humanities, institutions supported by MoE and other government bodies.
financial aid
The financial aid given to M.Tech students is Rs 12,400 per month and PG scholarship (GATE/GPAT) is generally for 22 months.
Many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) are using GATE scores in their recruitment process. E.g. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Coal India Limited (CIL), Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDSL), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), etc. The GATE score obtained by the candidates will remain valid for a period of three years from the date of declaration of result.
GATE Test Papers
There will be a total of 30 test papers in GATE 2024, which will consist of Full Papers and Sectional Papers. Candidates have the option of appearing for one or two test papers from the permitted two-paper combinations.
Required Documents to Fill Online Application in GATE 2024
Photo ID must contain candidate's name, date of birth and unique photo ID number. This photo ID must be carried in original to the examination hall for verification.
Scanned Copy of Valid Photo Identity Document : Aadhaar-UID (Passport/PAN Card/Voter ID/Driving Licence).
High quality passport size photograph of the candidate
High quality signature photograph of the candidate
Scanned copy of SC/ST category certificate in PDF format (if applicable).
Scanned copy of PWD certificate in PDF format (if applicable).
Scanned copy of certificate in PDF format (if applicable) in case of difficulty in reading or writing.
