CBSE Class 12 Psychology Paper Analysis 2020

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday, February 22, conducted the examinations for Class 12 Psychology paper across the country and at some centres outside India.

The CBSE 2020 Board exams commenced from February 15, however, the examinations for main subjects started today.

Psychology (subject code no. 037) is an elective subject for class 12 students. It specializes in the study of experiences, behaviors and mental processes of human beings within a socio-cultural historical context. The teaching of Psychology is generally based on the use of case studies, narratives, experiential exercises, analysis of common everyday experiences, etc.

The main topics included in Class 12 Psychology subject includes

  1. Variations in Psychological Attributes - 9 marks
  2. Self and Personality - 10 marks
  3. Meeting Life Challenges - 7 marks
  4. Psychological Disorders - 10 marks
  5. Therapeutic Approaches - 7 marks
  6. Attitude and Social Cognition - 8 marks
  7. Social Influence and Group Processes - 7 marks
  8. Psychology and Life - 6 marks
  9. Developing Psychological Skills - 6 marks

Class 12 Psychology Question Paper Pattern

The CBSE Class 12 Psychology theory examination paper was of 70 marks and the duration of the examination was three hours. There are mainly 5 types of questions asked in the exam:

1) REMEMBERING: Exhibit memory of previously learned material by recalling facts, terms, basic concepts, and answers.

2) UNDERSTANDING: Demonstrate understanding of facts and ideas by organizing, comparing, translating, interpreting, giving descriptions, and stating main ideas.

3) APPLYING: Solve problems to new situations by applying acquired knowledge, facts, techniques and rules in a different way.

4) ANALYSING AND EVALUATING: Examine and break information into parts by identifying motives or causes. Make inferences and find evidence to support generalizations. Present and defend opinions by making judgments about information, validity of ideas, or quality of work based on a set of criteria.

5) CREATING: Compile information together in a different way by combining elements in a new pattern or proposing alternative solutions.

Class 12 Psychology Question Paper Analysis: Feedback from students

The examination for the Class 12 Psychology paper concluded at 1.30 PM on February 22. Some of the students who appeared for the Psychology paper today said that most of the questions asked in the paper were from the NCERT syllabus. The difficult level of the question paper was tough to moderate. Some of the students said they expect good marks for this paper.
