Latest admission policy for admission to the MBA batch of 2021-2023 is now released by IIM - Bangalore. IIM Bangalore is known as one of the few IIMs to give more weight to a candidate's profile than their CAT score while making the WAT-PI shortlist. IIM Bangalore also continues to give additional marks for gender diversity but does not give any extra marks for academic diversity. The latest IIM Bangalore selection criteria, and an analysis of what it means to us is given below.
IIM Bangalore has set the CAT 2020 cut-off at the 85th percentile. The sectional cut-off of the QA and DI - LR sections has been set at the 75th percentile, while VA-RC section has been set the cut – off at the 80th percentile.
IIM Bangalore is planning to give 40% weight to a candidate's CAT 2020 score while considering the composite score to shortlisted candidates for the WAT-PI round.
IIM Bangalore will be giving 20% weight to a student’s 10th marks, 20% weight to graduation marks, and 10% weight to 12th marks of that candidate while calculating the composite score to shortlist candidates for the WAT-PI round.
IIM Bangalore is going to give 2% weight to female applicants, and 8% weight to candidates considering their work experience. Applicants having greater than or equal to 3 years of work experience will be given maximum possible marks for that component.
During the creation of the final shortlist, IIM Bangalore will give a 30% weight to the applicant’s Personal Interview performance, and 25% weight to the candidate's CAT 2020 performance. 10% weight has been assigned to 10th, graduation marks and work experience, each. 5% weight has been assigned for the 12th marks.
IIM Bangalore is one of those few IIMs who gives majority weight to the Applicant’s profile rather than candidate’s CAT performance. The process of selection followed by the institute "is based on the relationship between the academic performance of students of the PGP in IIM Bangalore and their past academic performance, CAT score of candidate, performance in the admission interview and previous work experience."
