WBCS Prelims Exam Schedule 2023: The West Bengal Public Service Commission (WBPSC) has released the timetable for the 2023 West Bengal Civil Service Executive Preliminary Examination. Initially slated for November 5, 2023, the exam has been rescheduled to December 16, 2023. Aspiring candidates can download E-admit cards from the official WBPSC website, wbpsc.gov.in.
The WBCS Executive Preliminary Examination Structure features a General Studies paper comprising 200 marks, lasting 2.5 hours, and encompassing 200 multiple-choice questions.
The marking scheme includes 1 mark for each correct answer, with a provision for negative marking — though the exact penalty remains undisclosed.
The General Studies syllabus spans a wide range of topics, including the History of India, Indian National Movement, Geography of India and the World, Indian Polity and Constitution, Indian Economy and Social Issues, General Science, Environment and Ecology, and Current Events of National and International Importance.
In the selection process, the preliminary examination serves as a screening test, and its marks do not contribute to the final selection. Successful candidates proceed to the main examination, which comprises six compulsory papers and one optional subject with two papers. Marks obtained in the main examination are considered for the final merit list.
