The ultimate goal of studying hard is to get a job. The world is full of competition; everyone everywhere is trying to be the best versions of themselves. There are thousands of freshers each year who pass out from college to get into the professional world. So, it is up to each one on how they prepare and present themselves for and during interviews to have an edge over the others.
Here are few core parameters, that most companies will try to evaluate a fresher on:
• Communication skill
• Confidence
• Compatibility with the company
• Adaptability
• Salary
While giving an interview the main motive of the interviewee is to impress his/her interviewer. So here are some interview tips for freshers which will help them to perform well:
Resume
Your resume is your first impression to the interviewer. Prepare your resume in line with the work profile the company is offering and by highlighting the strengths you possess that are required for the job. Remember that all the information mentioned in your resume should be true and not false just to impress the interviewer. Use the latest format, list all your academic achievements, highlight technical trainings (if any) and mention proper contact details.
Research about the company
Before applying for a job make sure you know enough about the company and you are willing to work in that company. To do this you can check the company website. It will help you to understand them and make you more confident.
Create online account on different job search websites
Recruiters or companies even check for employees online, through websites. Your online profile is a window to your recruiters. It helps them get an idea of your personality. Customize your account on social networking sites and make sure to remove the stuff which may give a bad impression about yourself.
Practice Makes you Perfect
Practice the way you will answer the questions which are asked often such as your introduction and few things related to your profile. You can ask a friend or a family member to play the role of an interviewer. Practice answering all the basic questions with them. You can also record your answers to analyse them further.
Dress Like you mean Business
Your dressing sense is the mirror of your personality. Always make sure your clothes are formal & well ironed. Black trouser and a white shirt would be the best combination. Avoid wearing colourful shirts and trousers. Look like a professional.
Arrive Early
In today’s fast-paced world, no one can afford to waste their time waiting for someone. It would also create a bad first impression. So, make it a point to arrive at least half an hour earlier. It will also depict your punctuality.
Organise your documents
Keep two copies of all the important documents like your resume, cover letter, degrees, mark sheets, identity proofs, photographs, etc., ready. Organise all the documents neatly in a folder so that when asked for, you don’t have to search for them.
Be true to the interviewer
Never give any false information to your interviewer, if you don’t know any answer or are confused, it is better to frankly speak about it instead of giving wrong answers or telling a lie related to it; do remember, that the interviewer is way more experienced and smarter than you.
Maintain Eye Contact
Eye contact with the interviewer shows your confidence and honesty. Also, try and answer the questions with some enthusiasm.
Switch Off your Phone
The disturbance isn't acceptable in any form and the job is more important than a call or a message, so switch off your phone before entering.
These are some questions that are often asked in interviews and you should be well prepared with them.
Q1. Tell me about yourself?
Q2. Why should we hire you?
Q3. What are your salary expectations?
Q4. Which is more important to you, money or growth?
For the question, “Tell me something about yourself” usually people give a basic answer mentioning their name, home town, qualification details, interests etc. which have nothing to do with the job. “Tell me something about yourself” means they want to know about your recent qualification details, your work/training experiences and your professional aim. Therefore, answer such questions clearly and to the point. Also, don’t be aggressive while answering, address politely and with confidence
Finding a job vacancy in today’s world is easy, but getting hired for it is what is tough. There will be a number of candidates applying for the same job, so the idea of the whole process is to convince the interviewer to hire you and not anyone else. From the way you enter the room, to your sitting posture and even the way you leave the room; everything is counted. Do remember, it's your optimism and your confidence which will lead you towards success.
