I think the term time management is a misnomer. One cannot manage time but we basically have to manage the events in their lives with relation to time. Everyone thinks, once they are out of time, that they had more time which would have resulted them in doing the work much better but everyone of us gets the same 24 hours or 144o minutes or 86400 seconds each day. What we do of that much time depends wholly on our skills, self-analysis, planning, evaluation and self-control. Time is both valuable as well as limited, it should be used wisely and effectively. People practicing effective time management techniques find out that they are more productive, less stressed, get more things done and feel better about themselves. Incorporating some effective time management techniques can make a person’s life a whole lot better. For a student imparting some of the techniques can enable them to do well academically and personally as well. Let’s take a look at 10 such strategies that will help students manage their time effectively:

1. To Do Lists: Recording or listing out the things that you have to complete is a good way which you have to complete in the day or as per the schedule you want to. Focus on doing and completing one task at a time with attention to details. Don’t forget to reward yourself with a little treat to keep yourself going.

2. Prioritize Tasks:Prioritizing the tasks from the to do list will ensure the more critical time-sensitive tasks getting completed than the petty ones in the list.

3. Develop Anti-procrastination Plan: Procrastinating is a thing that we all do and that puts our tasks getting delayed. Creating a deadline for your plans in your calendar will help you to achieve your target. Break down the larger tasks into smaller ones and get them done without procrastinating and before you know the larger task will finish even quickly.

4. Set a study schedule: Create a plan for your studies and stick to it. Set aside time each day for your studies. Follow a schedule for each subject and give some particular time for every subject to understand them better. More or less study time can be managed according to the students understanding of the subject.

5. Taking Study Break: Managing your workload is also good for your productivity as you get time to destress yourself and freshen up and then go back to doing your work again. Having a break of 10-15 minutes is enough to refocus on the things you were doing.

6. Organize things: Organizing your things neatly will help find you the relative information you want about your particular task at hand. The less time you spend on finding things that are organized will get you more time to get the task at hand completed.

7. Using your Downtime: Utilizing your downtime to your advantage can be done by reading or looking for something productive in your lunchtime or recess or while waiting at some place, reviewing your to do list, etc.

8. Find your Productive time: Identify the time that is most suitable for your learning and the time which you feel is your best where you are at your productive best. Scheduling your studies at this time will maintain your energy levels and to keep that up always take regular breaks from time to time.

9. Sleep Schedule: Try and get at least 8 hours of sleep everyday to maintain your concentration levels, mood, memory and overall health of yourself.

10. Create a time budget: Determine how much time you spend on your tasks, with family and friends, school time and other curricular activities and according to that create a time budget. Doing this will help you decide if free time is available for any other commitments.
