The joint film appreciation course by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) and the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) began at the FTII campus on Sunday with a wide spectrum of participants of various ages and educational backgrounds signing up.

The course will run for two weeks till December 15, and has been titled Film Appreciation through the Lens of Life. Course director Arunaraje Patil was an editing student of the FTII and winner of five National Film Awards. She is a life coach having held motivational talks and sessions.

The course was inaugurated by filmmaker Umesh Kulkarni, who is also an FTII alumnus, as well as by Bhupendra Kainthola and Prakash Magdum, directors of FTII and NFAI, respectively.

According to a press release, 24 participants, between 20 to 60 years, have signed up for the course.

They are from 11 states and Union Territories. Lawyers, management professionals, engineers, pharmacists, and accountants have signed up .
