SGVU is duly recognized by the university grants commission (UGC) and is included in the list of private universities maintained by the university grants commission under section 2 (f) of UGC Act 1956.

As per the Hon'ble Supreme Court Judgment in case of critical appeal no. 1999.D / 24-9-2001 for a university running / Conducting technical course / programs, prior approval of AICTE is not necessary.
