Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli |
Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli NIT Campus (Post) Thanjavore Main Road, Thuvakudi, Tiruchirappalli - 620 015, Tamil Nadu, India.
Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIMT) is the eleventh IIM and was instituted on January 4, 2011 by the Hon’ble Minister for HRD and Telecommunication, Shri Kapil Sibal, under the patronage of the Government of India and the stewardship of IIM-B. Tiruchirapalli is a prominent city for art and culture. IIMT is building its sprawling permanent campus spread over 170 acres of land on Trichy-Pudukottai highway, 12 km from Tiruchirappalli International Airport and in the interim the institute is functioning from NIT Tiruchirappalli.
IIM is a name that has steadily become synonymous with excellence and has established a benchmark for unwavering quality. IIMT, while recognizing the mentorship of IIMB aims to find its own footing in developing competent professionals for the industry. The flagship programme, Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM), has been instrumental in the achievement of this goal.
Changes when compared to last year
Admission Process:
The admission process for the PGP program comprises of following stages.
During the first stage, initially a pool of candidates who satisfy the following minimum CAT 2016 percentiles are considered.
Category of Candidate | Sectional Percentile | Overall Percentile |
---|---|---|
General |
80 |
90 |
OBC (NC) |
72 |
81 |
SC |
60 |
75 |
ST |
50 |
65 |
DAP |
55 |
70 |
Among the pool of candidates who meet the above mentioned percentiles, a list of candidates would be called for attending Written ability test (WAT) and Personal Interview depending on their performance in CAT.
One point to be noted here is that for shortlisting candidates for WAT/PI rounds IIM Trichy is considering only the CAT performance of a candidate. This goes on to show that performing well in CAT 2016 would go a long way in securing a WATGD//PI call from this premier B-school.
The following are the weightages that would be considered during the final selection of candidates
Component | Maximum Weight |
---|---|
CAT |
50% |
Personal Interview |
15% |
WAT |
15% |
Work Experience |
5% |
Graduation marks |
10% |
Masters Degree or professional course (CA/ICWA/CS) |
2% |
Gender Diversity |
3% |
To conclude, one important observation about this year's selection process is that the total weightage for parameters which are controllable (CAT,WAT and PI) in the final selection stage has been kept at a whopping 80%. This ensures that the applicants, who do not have a good academic profile or work experience can still aspire to join IIM Trichy by preparing well for CAT 2016, WAT and PI rounds.
Note- The Personal Interview and Written Analysis Test would be conducted at New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata. The exact date for PI & WAT will be communicated to the short¬listed candidates by IIM Rohtak which is co-ordinating for 2017-19 batch on behalf of IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Udaipur, IIM Kashipur, IIM Amritsar, IIM Bodhgaya & IIM Sambalpur (also referred to as “9 IIMs”).
In cases where candidates have been shortlisted by the 9 IIMs as well as older IIMs, IIM Rohtak would obtain the PI & WAT scores of such candidates directly from the older IIMs. Such candidates will be informed in advance by IIM Rohtak, and they need not appear for the common PI & WAT of the “9 IIMs.”
