Science Study Tips Last Minute Preparation Tips for Class 10 Science SSC Board Exam 2022
The SSC Board conducts the class 10th science exam in the month of March. This year the SSC Class 10 Science part 1 exam is on 28th March 2022 and science part 2 on 30th March. Students need proper guidance and preparation strategy to score good marks in Science paper. The Class 10 Science syllabus is really vast. Students should have a proper study plan so that they finish the syllabus on time and get enough time for practicing the previous year’s papers and sample papers. Some students find this subject easier, while some find it difficult. So, to help students prepare in a better way for the exam, we have provided SSC Class 10 Science preparation tips. These tips will work for all students.
Preparation Tips for Class 10 Science Exam-
Students must study through the SSC Class 10 Science textbook. The book covers the entire syllabus and the question paper is designed from it. So, students must be thorough with all the concepts. They must also solve the exercise questions of the book. Here are a few tips which will help them prepare effectively for the exam.
1) Know the Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme-
SSC Class 10 theory Science paper 1 is of 40 marks and Science paper 2 is of 40 marks. The question paper is divided into 4 sections. The marks distribution and the number of questions for each section are shown below. To know the detailed question paper design and unit-wise marks distribution students should go through the SSC class 10 Science Syllabus.

(Questions should not be of the same type and no fill in the blank questions).
Questions of any 5 types given below as sample can be chosen.
(5 marks)
(a) Find the old man out: This type can include 4 to 5 components so that the student can choose the odd one out after some rational thinking. It can also be in the form of a picture.
(b) Co-relate: The question should be on the same scientific concept to determine the co-relation. There should be no ambiguity.
(c) Match the column / Make Pairs: 4 to 5 words are given in 2 groups to match. 4 Alternatives may be given for 2 components and the alternatives should have similarities (closely related) so that students will have to think logically to reach the correct answer.
(d) True or false: Write if the given statement is true or false.
(e) Give the name/molecular formula: This type of questions can also include a figure to name, a flow chart with a blank.
[Note: No fill in the black question in Q. 1 (B)]
Q.2 (A) Three questions of 2 marks each. (Attempt any two).
Scientific reasoning questions (4 marks)
Q. 2 (B) Five questions of 2 mark each. (Attempt This question can include the following types: (any three). (6 marks)
(a) Solve numerical problems that are different but based on those
Given in the lessons should be asked.
(b) Laws/define / principle: Explain with examples:
(c) Short Notes: Write a note based on the concept understood from a figure or picture.
(d) Chemical Reactions with equations the question can be to name a chemical reaction OR give an incomplete/unbalanced chemical reaction, so that the student can complete, balance and also identify the chemical reaction
(e) Complete the flowchart: Give an incomplete flowchart with 4-5 blank spaces.
(f) Give difference between: A minimum of 4 differences should be pointed out between the 2 components. These points should be independent.
(g) Write properties / characteristics/ uses / advantages / effects: A minimum of 4 statements are expected.
(h) Give examples: It is necessary to give 4 examples based on a concept, a process and component. The student is free to give examples from day to day life.
Q. 3 Eight questions of 3 mark each (Attempt any five). (15 Marks)
(a) Give explanation using the given statement: Ask to find out the concept based on at least 6 given statements.
(b) Suggest remedies /measures: This should have questions about problems /effects related to daily life.
(c) Explanation of diagrams: Give an unlabeled diagram and ask the students to label and explain it.
(d) Complete the table / chart: Give an incomplete table and ask the students to complete and give information based on it.
(e) Explain with the help of examples: Ask an example of a process, chemical reaction.
(f) Solve numerical problems Solved numerical from the textbook. Difficulty level should be high.
(g) Complete the diagram: Complete the diagram like an electric circuit, food chain and give explanation.
(h) Answer questions based on figures.
(i) Write answers with explanations.
(j) Write laws, theories and explain.
(k) Complete the paragraph: Give a paragraph with a minimum of 6 blank spaces and 7-8 options.
Q. 4. Two questions of 5 mark each. (Attempt any one).
(5 marks)
(a) Draw a figure and give explanation: Draw the figure with appropriate labels and explain.
(b) Give an incorrect diagram: Ask the student to correct and explain the diagram.
(c) Classify with detailed explanation.
(d) Read the given paragraph and answer the questions: A minimum of 5 Questions should be asked and it should be high order thinking questions (HOT)
(e) Complete the given incomplete table chart and give explanation : It is necessary to have 3-4 columns in the table or chart.
(f) Answer the questions in detail: It can be an activity for proving a law, property or an experiment to verity the statement. This question should also include a diagram.
(g) Make a concept diagram base on any component or technology.
2) Students must go through the entire syllabus and need to mark the question on each page of textbook that are mentioned in the above format.
3) Preparation Tips for Class 10 Science Exam
In Physics, conceptual and formula-based questions are mostly asked in the exam. So, students must be thorough with all the important formulas and it should be in their fingertips.
The topic like Gravitation Effect of electric current, Heat, Refraction of light , Lenses, Space mission are important from the exam perspective and some of the questions can be expected from it.
Practice numerical on the Joules law, Universal Gravitational law, Gravitational Acceleration, escape velocity, critical velocity Most of the time the numerical problems on lens are also asked along with ray diagram.
Practice diagrams like lines of the magnetic field around a solenoid and a bar magnet, electric circuit diagram, AC and DC generator, image formation by lenses, the human eye, glass prism, image formation for both defected and correct vision.
Practice previous year question papers and model test papers to get an idea on what types of numerical and theoretical questions are asked from Physics portion.
Chemistry is a high-scoring part and requires lesser time for preparation. Learn the tips involved in balancing chemical equations. Also, memorize the applications of acids, and bases in everyday life. Students must know the common names, preparation, chemical formula, and uses of acids, bases, salts and its compounds.
Focus on carbon compounds and its nomenclature containing functional groups, homologous series, branched, unbranched and ring structures, allotropes.
Make proper notes of all reactions involving the conversion of compounds. These revision notes will assist in your last-minute preparations.
Understand the Modern periodic table with electronic configuration and memorize all the elements placed in the 1st and last two groups of the Periodic table. If not done till you can learn first 20 elements i.e. from hydrogen to calcium, and group 1,2, 17,18 and period 1,2,3,4
Speed and accuracy can be acquired through extensive practice of periodic table.
In biology, the students must practice diagrams like the representation of respiratory system, energy cycles, mitosis, meiosis, different parts of a flower, female and male reproductive organs, animals birds and organism from animal kingdom, various disasters and incidents from disaster management and social health etc.
In Biology, there are complex terminologies that could be memorized by doing regular revisions. It is always good to write and understand those terms to get acquainted with them.
Understand the functions performed by the various system, reproductive organs in humans and the reproduction process in plants.
Biology comprises of several complex diagrams, therefore students must build a habit of drawing a neat and clean diagram while writing the answers. This will also help them in scoring more marks. If the diagram is technically wrong student get zero marks even if the labeling is correct.
4) General Tips to be Followed Before the Exam Day
5) Tips for Attempting the SSC Class 10 Science Question Paper
While attempting the paper students must take care of the following things:
Most importantly the students are advised to practice at least previous 3 years’ SSC Papers for Class 10 and Practice worksheets given in the link to understand the type of questions asked lesson wise. It helps the students to understand the exam pattern and enhances their speed, accuracy, and time management skills. Following these techniques will surely ensure excellent performance in the SSC Class 10 Science Board Exam.
