On Friday The Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar announced that, Other Backward Class (OBC) reservation in Sainik Schools is now to be considered from the year 2021-22.
A circular that was sent to principals of all Sainik schools across the country. The circular was for, the Sainik Schools Society, which works under the Ministry of Defence, have 33 such residential schools in the country.
According to that, 67% of the seats in a Sainik school are held in reserve for candidates from the state or the Union Territory in which the school is located and the rest 33% is held in reserve for those who come from outside that state or UT. These two lists will be termed List A and List B. the circular said.
The circular also said in each of the lists, 15% seats are held in reserve for Scheduled Castes, 7.5% seats are for Scheduled Tribes and 27 % seats are for Other Backward Classes-Non-Creamy Layer OBC-NCL.
