केंद्र सरकारने एनएमसी कायद्यातील तरतुदी लागू केल्या आहेत. ज्या अंतर्गत एमबीबीएस अंतिम वर्षाच्या विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी 'नॅशनल एक्झिट टेस्ट' (नेक्स्ट) आयोजित करण्याची अंतिम मुदत सप्टेंबर 2024 पर्यंत वाढवण्यात आली आहे.
असे असले तरीही NEXT परीक्षा 2023 मध्ये होणार की नाही संदर्भात कोणतेही अधिकृत माहिती देण्यात आली नाही. केंद्रीय आरोग्य मंत्रालयाच्या 23 सप्टेंबरच्या राजपत्र नोटिफिकेशननुसार राष्ट्रीय वैद्यकीय आयोग (NMC) कायद्याचे कलम-59 लागू करण्यात आले आहे. परीक्षा आयोजित करण्याचे नियम अद्याप तयार झालेले नाहीत आणि परीक्षा कक्षाच्या स्थापनेची प्रक्रियाही सुरू आहे.
नॅशनल मेडिकल कमिशन कायद्यांतर्गत, आयोगाला अंतिम वर्षाची सामान्य अंडरग्रेजुएट वैद्यकीय तपासणी करावी लागते. हा कायदा सप्टेंबर 2020 मध्ये लागू झाला.
पुढे एमबीबीएसच्या अंतिम वर्षाच्या विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी सामाईक अभियोग्यता चाचणी, आधुनिक वैद्यकशास्त्राचा सराव करण्यासाठी परवाना चाचणी, पदव्युत्तर अभ्यासक्रमांच्या प्रवेशासाठी गुणवत्तेवर आधारित प्रवेश परीक्षा आणि भारतात प्रॅक्टिस करू इच्छिणाऱ्या परदेशी औषधांसाठी परीक्षा असेल. पदवीधरांसाठी स्क्रीनिंग चाचणी म्हणून काम करेल.
नोटिफिकेशनमध्ये दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, 'जवळपास दोन वर्षांचा कालावधी लोटल्यानंतरही, या प्रकरणी नियम तयार केले गेले नाहीत आणि परीक्षा कक्षाची रचना देखील प्रक्रियेत आहे.' 2019 च्या कलम-59 द्वारे प्रदान केलेल्या अधिकारांचा वापर करून, या अडचणी दूर करण्याचे आदेश देण्यात आले आहेत.
या आदेशाला नॅशनल मेडिकल कमिशन फर्स्ट आदेश, 2022 म्हटले जाऊ शकते आणि तो अधिकृत राजपत्रात प्रकाशित झाल्यापासून लागू होईल. नोटिफिकेशनमध्ये दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार 'अधिनियमाच्या कलम 15 मध्ये, उप-कलम (3) मध्ये 'तीन वर्षे' या शब्दाच्या जागी 'चार वर्षे' हा शब्द येईल.
अधिकृत सूत्रांनी दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, राष्ट्रीय पात्रता-सह-प्रवेश परीक्षा-पोस्ट-ग्रॅज्युएट (NEET-PG) साधारणपणे दरवर्षी एप्रिल किंवा मेच्या आसपास घेतली जाते आणि एनईएक्सटी ही नीट पीजी ची जागा घेणार असल्याने, परीक्षा एप्रिल किंवा मे महिन्यात घेतली जाईल.
