CBSE Board Exams 2020

PUBLISH DATE 21st September 2019

The board exam is a stressful period for students of secondary and higher secondary classes. Exam anxiety is common for board students and may include excessive worry about board exams, fear of low scores etc.

While for some anxiety during the exam period may be due to lifestyle factors such as inadequate rest, poor nutrition, insufficient exercise, and time management problems, while for others it may be due to lack of information, poor studying styles, and other psychological factors.

The exam stress/anxiety can be manageable by following a proper study plan, timely evaluation of your preparation, clearing your doubts with academicians, and maintaining a healthy & nutritious lifestyle.

Here are some helpful suggestions for students to ease stress during exams:

1. Read question paper thoroughly

The question paper in the exam hall is distributed a few minutes before the commencement of exam. The students should use these few minutes to read the question paper thoroughly to mark those questions that they will be able to answer. An early roadmap preparation will help you save time for tough question while answering the easier ones first.

2. Re-presentation of answers is important

While answering, make sure to mention important details or the formula used. Evaluator may deduct marks for missing steps, so do not skip steps. Highlight your final answer. Do not waste time at one particular question if you do not know the answer, rather move on to solve the next question. This will help to save time and you will get enough time to solve that question later with a fresh mind.

3. Stress level should be kept under check

Exam environment is stressful and a few odd questions can add to the stress. So, avoid this stress built up and have some water and take some deep breaths to get relief. Try to read and understand question again with a fresh and relaxed mind.

4. Attempt all questions

Target to attempt the entire question paper. Skipping even a single question can decrease your opportunity to score well. Remember, if your initial few steps to answer the question was correct, it may fetch you partial marks.

5. No overwriting and scribbling

Your answer sheet should not look messy with overwriting and scribbling. If there is any mistake, you should simply strike it out and write it again instead of overwriting.

6. Cross-check answer sheet before submission

Before submitting the answer sheet, check carefully for silly mistakes. You should revise and rectify all small/big errors properly before submitting the sheets.
