Before the search engines came into existence, when anyone needed any sort of information had to ask someone or read about it somewhere. Gone are those days since the search engines have come. Nowadays people search anything right from simple things like “Best coffee place near me” to more serious topics like “Why did World War II happen?”. The search engines have made it really simple for us to search for information on the internet. And today they have become a part of our lives.

Google, Yahoo!, Bing and DuckDuckGo are some of the examples of search engines which are available today for us to research information on the internet. Every search engine has got their fare share of advantages and disadvantages over each other. But the search engine which most of the people rely more on is Google. Google has certainly been a game changer as far as the search engines are concerned, it is into almost every tech field making our lives simple. When a person wants to search for anything, he just has to google it. As a user, if I have to search for something, I expect it to be what I want.

People research online to know more about something like looking for any product or study about something to contribute it any field. Researching is imperative for anything in todays world, it does act as a tool for building knowledge for everyone and facilitates learning for beginners as well as veteran people. For non-professionals researching helps increasing their knowledge and skills to survive and improve their lives and know the current things happening in the world. For professionals doing research is for finding an interesting topic to discuss or write about it. Research is an essential component in generating knowledge and vice-versa.

Let’s take a look at film and tv actors, they do research to get the film and acting right to the point and make it very best by interviewing various people associated with the topic. Some actors even immerse themselves to understand the nuances of the character they will be playing and some even read literature, biographies to have a better context. Students research for completing their studies and completing their projects and research papers thereby contributing more research in the field of available research. Businesses do their research to understand the market competition, to improve their product in terms of innovation and services, research benefits business. Businesses also invest heavily in research and development to secure a vantage point over their competitors.

The role of research is also to check if a certain fact is true or not. Google traces the original source of the information before producing it as a search result based on many indexes and they’re continuously changing and improving algorithm makes it easier to know for us if the information that we are researching on is true or not. For example, scientists also deal with research to test and validate the claims of fellow scientists. Journalists have to rely on sources more to check if a certain story is true or not, because pseudo journalism has become a social concern as it has led to many fake stories and articles being published on the internet, an example being the 2016 presidential campaign period in the US.

Researching helps people achieve their dreams and grab opportunities. These can be people looking for securing jobs, scholarships, business collaborations among others. Without research a person may fall prey to illegal recruitments.Indeed, research and doing research encourage people to explore possibilities, to understand existing issues, and to disclose truths and fabricated ones. Without research, technological advancement and other developments could have remained a fantasy. Reading, writing, observing, analyzing, and social interaction facilitate an inquisitive mind's quest for knowledge, learning, and wisdom. Research serves as a bridge to achieve that goal.
