Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research Fellowship (BANRF) for Scheduled Caste Students to pursue M.Phil/Ph.D Admission 2017
Hundred years ago, in 1913, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar undertook a Historic Journey to Columbia University, New York for Higher Studies
In grateful commemoration of this, Barti invites applications from scheduled caste candidates for award of M.Phil/Ph.D fellowship
The fellowship has been initiated for SC candidates to provide them opportunity to undertake advanced studies and research
The objective of this award is to provide fellowships in the form of financial assistance to the students belonging to SC category to pursue higher studies leading to M.Phil and PhD degrees (full-time) in Humanities and
Social Sciences, and Sciences, Engineering & Technology, in Indian Universities/Institutions / Colleges approved under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act and in Non-Universities / Institutions
The salient feature of BANRF schemes are on the lines of Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) scheme for SC students, for pursuing M.Phil/PhD any amendments in the scheme of RGNF in future may be made applicable to BANRF also
Year 2017 marks 104nd year of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s historic journey to Columbia. In commemoration of this, One Hundred and FOUR (104) M.Phil / Ph.D Fellowships will be awarded this year. This number may increase or decrease
50% fellowships are reserved for SC women candidates
03% fellowships are reserved for SC persons with disability
The selected candidates would be eligible for the following assistance as under:
1. Fellowship in Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Engg & Technology:
@ Rs.25000/- p.m. for initial two years (Dr. Babasaheb Ambadkar Junior Research Fellowship (BANJRF)
@ Rs.28000/- p.m. for remaining tenure (Dr. Babasaheb Ambadkar Senior Research Fellowship (BANSRF)
2. Contingency A:
@ Rs.10000/- p.m. for initial two years (Humanities & Social Sciences)
@ Rs.20500/- p.m. for remaining tenure (Humanities & Social Sciences)
3. Contingency B:
@ Rs.12000/- p.m. for initial two years (Sciences, Engg & Technology)
@ Rs.25000/- p.m. for remaining tenure (For all disciplines)
4. Department Assistance: @ Rs.3000/- p.m. per students to the host institution for providing instructure (For all disciplines)
5. Reader assistance: @ Rs.2000/- p.m. in case of physically handicapped & blind candidates (For all disciplines)
6. HRA: As per rules of the University / Institutions (For all disciplines)
Selection will be made on the basis of merit of the candidates and the selection criteria will be decided by BARTI; the decision of D.G., BARTI with regard to selection of candidates for the award of fellowships shall be final

The candidate should enclose attested copies of all necessary documents along with the duly filled application and Research Proposal including concept note containing research details, etc. in about 2000 words and send by Registered Post to the Director General, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research & Training Institute, 28, Queen's Garden, Camp, Pune-411001
Completed applications along with all necessary documents and research proposals as mentioned above should reach the above office on or before 11th May 2017
