National Institute for empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (Divyangjan) established in the year 2005, on East Coast Road, Muttukadu, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, (about 30 km from Chennai Central railway station, Mofussil bus terminus and airport) Under Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilties (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, to serve as a national resource center for empowerment of persons with Multiple Disabilities such as those with two or more disabilities in a person. The Disabilities enumerated as per PWD (1995) Act, are Low Vision, Blindness, Locomotor Disability, Hearing Impairment, Mental Retardation, Mental Illness, Leprosy Cured Persons and as per The National Trust (1999) Act, are Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities.

Eligibility :	Bachelor Degree from a UGC approved University in any of the Secondary School subjects in the 10+2+3(15) or 11+1+3(15) pattern of study and passed the qualifying examination conducted by the respective State Board or C.B.S.E, Bachelors degree in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with minimum marks of (O.C – 50%, B.C – 45%, M.B.C / D.N.C – 43%, S.C / S.T – 40%) OR PG Degree in Economics, Commerce, Home Science, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy, Logic and Indian Culture with minimum marks of 50%
Admission Criteria :	Marks obtained in the qualified examination : 50 Marks  Higher Qualification : 10 Marks  Experience (Minimum of 2 years) : 05 Marks  Parent / Sibling / Ward of Pw.D: 10 Marks  Rural Students : 05 Marks  Interview : 20 Marks

Eligibility	a) A candidate who has successfully passed B.Ed Spl.Edn. with minimum 50% marks in respective disability area from a recognized university or any other degree considered equivalent to B.Ed Spl. Edn. from an affiliating university and/ or teaching department under any University recognized by U.G.C. with RCI registration. b) A candidate who has successfully passed the B.Ed. General course and has successfully completed Diploma in Education Special Education in respective disability area recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India with minimum 50 percent marks in each course. c) A candidate having passed PG Diploma of RCI, New Delhi (Till Academic session 2014-15) d) A candidate with B.Ed. in particular specialization may be allowed for M.Ed. cross disability/ multicategory (as and when offered) but the reverse is not allowed. B.Ed. with multi-category should not be admitted for specialization in a single disability at the M.Ed. level, however; as part of CBCS, these can be admitted to B.Ed. Spl. Edn. Area C Courses and complete the Specialization Courses to qualify for a particular disability. On completion of Area C, these can be admitted to the M.Ed. Spl.Ed in a specific disability.  e) A candidate with B.A/B.Sc/B.Com B.Ed-Spl.Edn (4 years integrated)  f) Candidate should have valid RCI
