The University has been established under provisions of Indira Gandhi Technological And Medical Sciences University Act 2012 (Act 6 of 2012) by Government of Arunachal Pradesh. The Act received assent of the Hon’ble Governor of Arunachal Pradesh on 26.05.2012 and got published in the State Gazette of Arunachal Pradesh on 30.05.2012.
The University is situated in Ziro. One of the most beautiful hill station of Arunachal Pradesh, located at about 1500 meters above mean sea level in the midst of pine clad mountains, Ziro is the headquarter of Lower Subansiri District. Ziro is a valley dotted with number of hillocks. On the east, a high ridge, which demarcates the plateau from the wooded hills of the lower region. A small river, the Kele, drains the plains of the Valley.
