Indian Institute of Management (IIM) has been set up by the Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2010 at Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh is one of the fastest growing states of India with its rich mineral, forest, natural and local resources.

The Institute believes in preparing ethical leaders who are not only committed to business, commerce and industry but are also socially conscious towards their contribution in nation building and bring in name for the country globally. The institute is abuzz with activities carried by the student clubs which are now expanding their scope of activity and bringing luminaries from the Corporate.

Presently IIM Raipur operates from the Government Engineering College Campus, Raipur. The Government of Chhattisgarh has allotted over 200 acres of land for the proposed IIM Raipur campus in Naya Raipur. The proposed campus will be a state-of-the-art campus presenting a blissful mix of modern architecture, culture & heritage of Chhattisgarh.

Changes when compared to last year

The minimum CAT sectional percentile requirement has been reduced for differently abled (DA) candidate from 55 percentile to 50 percentile.

    Admission Process:

The admission process for the PGP program comprises of following stages.

    • Shortlisting candidates for WAT/GD//PI round.
    • Final Selection of candidates post WAT/GD/PI round.

During the first stage, initially a pool of candidates who satisfy the following minimum CAT 2016 percentiles are considered.

Category of Candidate Sectional Percentile Overall Percentile

    General)

    80

    90

    OBC (NC)

    72

    81

    SC

    60

    75

    ST

    50

    65

    DAP

    55

    65

Among the pool of candidates who meet the above mentioned percentiles, a list of candidates would be called for attending Written ability test (WAT) and Personal Interview depending on their performance in CAT.

One point to be noted here is that for shortlisting candidates for WAT/PI rounds IIM Raipur is considering only the CAT performance of a candidate. This goes on to show that performing well in CAT 2016 would go a long way in securing a WAT/PI call from this premier B-school.

The following are the weightages that would be considered during the final selection of candidates

    Component Maximum Weight

    CAT Score

    32%

    Personal Interview

    20%

    WAT

    10%

    Work Experience

    6%

    Graduation marks

    7%

    SSC

    7%

    Gender Diversity

    6%

    HSC/12

    6%

    Academic Diversity

    6%

To conclude, one important observation about this year's selection process is that the total weightage for parameters which are controllable (CAT,WAT and PI) in the final selection stage has been kept at 62%. This ensures that the applicants, who do not have a good academic profile or work experience can still aspire to join IIM Raipur by preparing well for CAT 2016, WAT and PI rounds.

Note- The nine new IIMs (Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Trichy and Udaipur, Amritsar, Bodh Gaya, Sambalpur) have decided to adopt a common process of WAT & PI to be coordinated this year by IIM Rohtak. In case any of the older IIMs (Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode and Lucknow) are willing to share their WAT & PI scores with the six new IIMs, the common candidates who have applied to new IIMs, need not to appear for WAT & PI process separately, else they have to appear. The common candidates will be intimated the names of older IIMs sharing WAT & PI scores with new IIMs in due course of time.
