Teacher Eligibility Test

TET - test a must for teachers

PUBLISH DATE 29th November 2017

Clearing the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) within three attempts will be mandatory for primary section teachers appointed to government and aided schools only on the basis of educational qualification after February 2013.

The RTE Act requires all aspiring teachers, who wish to be employed at aided schools in the state for lower primary and upper primary, to pass the teachers eligibility test.

According to a government resolution, the teachers will have to clear the tests in three continuous attempts from this year.

Principals however have said that the state hadn’t made any appointments for a few years. “There is a huge pool of teachers who have cleared the eligibility test and still are unemployed. At such a time, what is the use of making appointment rules stringent?” said Prashant Redij, principal, Hilda Convent High School, Kandivli.
