SBI PO Prelims 2018 : experts share important topics and tips to crack the exam

State Bank of India, SBI would be conducting the SBI PO Preliminary Examination 2018 on July 1, 7 and 8 2018. The examination would be conducted across various centers in the country on all three days for different slots. Candidates interested in getting a probationary officer post in SBI is required to first clear the preliminary examination. Those who qualify in the SBI PO Prelims 2018 would then be required to appear for the SBI PO Main Examination 2018. Ahead of the examination, experts share some important topics and tips to crack the examination.

Before we share the topics and tips, all the candidates who have registered for the SBI PO 2018 examination are advised to download their SBI PO Prelims 2018 Admit Cards. The admit cards are available on the official website Candidates without the admit card would not be allowed to appear for the examination under any circumstances. Also, the examination slot, exam date and examination centre details are all listed on the SBI PO Prelims 2018 Admit Cards. 

SBI PO Prelims 2018: 5 Important Topics and Tips

1. English Language section has traditionally been the easiest and in turn the most challenging section in SBI PO Examinations. Experts point out that Cloze Test would be an important topic and may have as many as 10 questions from it. Also, Reading Comprehension would have about 10 questions. Experts point out that usually the topics are from economic journals. Hence, it would be advisable for candidates to read up on important articles from this year’s issues of famous periodicals/ journals.

2. Though Syllogism has not been asked in the previous years, experts feel that candidates should be ready and practice a few. Also, Phrase Replacement and error correction are usually the topics in English Language where candidates loose marks.

3. In the Numerical Ability section, quadratic equations and number series are the most important topics. Last year, questions from quadratic equations and number series were of easy to moderate level. Experts believe that candidates can aim at scoring full marks in these two topics.

4. The other topic where candidates can score well are the data interpretation questions. Over the past two years, about 10 questions have been asked from Data Interpretation. Experts caution students to be very careful while attempting the question with the answers ‘Can’t be determined’. This section can be tricky and candidates should be cautious while answering.

5. From the Reasoning Ability Section, experts suggest that candidates should focus on seating arrangement and puzzles as well as blood relation questions. Last year, box type puzzles were asked and straight line seating arrangement questions were asked. It would hence be prudent to try circular seating arrangement questions as well and be prepared.

SBI PO Prelims 2018 would be a 100 marks 1 hour test. There would be three sections in the examination namely English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. English Language is for 30 marks and the remaining two sessions would be of 35 marks each. Exam would be conducted in different shifts on July 1, 7 and 8, 2018.
