Reflecting the national trend, schools in Pune registered a high number of students scoring above 9 and perfect 10 Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) in the CBSE Class X exams, the results of which were declared on Saturday .
For yet another year, the success rate of the Central Board of Secondary Education's Class X examination saw a drop --this time by as much as 5.3%.The number of students who scored a CGPA of 10, however, crossed the two lakh mark--up by almost 22% from last year's 1.7 lakh. With a success rate of 99.62, Chennai region, of which Maharashtra is a part, maintained its second position among the 10 regions in spite of a marginal dip. On top of the table was Thiruvananthapuram with a success rate of 99.85%.
The worst hit this year were the Guwhati and Delhi regions, where the success rate dropped by 18% and 13% to to 65.5% and 78.1%, respectively . A trend that was reversed after years was that boys outperformed girls by 0.9%. Some 92.5% of girls passed compared with 93.4% boys.
The perfect 10 CGPA was secured by 1,15,185 students in board-based exams and by 90,953 students in school-based exams nationally .
A total of 3,11,729 students scored between 9 and 9.8 CGPA, out of whom 1,88,964 opted for board-based exams and the rest 1,22,765 appeared for school-based exams nationally .
“Altogether, 121students appeared from GG International School and all of them passed.In all, 53 students scored 10 CGPA while 34 students scored between 9 and 9.8,“ said Bharti Bhagwani, principal.
The Lexicon School, Wagholi, posted100% results with14 students getting 10 CGPA and 50% of its students securing above 9 CGPA. City International School, Kothrud, also registered 100% results with 10 students getting 10 CGPA. Out of 63 students from Army Public School, Khadakwasla, 20 scored above 90% and 23 scored between 80% and 90%.
“In Army Public School, Camp, all 344 students passed the exam. 43 students got above 10 CGPA and 103 students scored between 9 and 10 CGPA,“ said Binita Poonekar, principal.
All 268 students, who appeared from Delhi Public School, cleared the exam, with 104 students scoring 10 CGPA.
From Vikhe Patil Memorial School, all 110 students, who ap peared for the exam, came out with flying colours and 24 got 10 CGPA. In DAV , Aundh, 478 students appeared for the exam, out of whom 158 students got 10 CGPA and 140 students between 9 and 9.9 CGPA. CV Madhavi, principal, DAV School, said, “This is a good year as more number of students have scored above 9 and 10 CGPA , compared to last year.“
Amanora School also secured 100% result with 25 out of 68 students getting 10 CGPA. Jnana Prabodhini Prashala also registered 100% result with 29% students scoring above 90% marks. Akshara International School also posted 100% result. A total of 164 students appeared from Blossom Public School, out of whom 31 got 10 CGPA and 50 students scored above 9 CGPA. In Sanskriti School, 46% of the entire batch scored over 90% aggregate and 18 students got a 10 CGPA.
City Pride School, Nigdi Pradhikaran's 87 students passed the exam with 28 students securing 10 CGPA and 26 students bagging 9 and above CGPA. In Orchid School, Baner, 32 students got 10 CGPA. In City International School Aundh, all 72 students cleared the exam with 13 students securing 10 CGPA. “ Air Force School registered 100% pass percentage with 27 students securing 10 CGPA and 56 students above 9 CGPA,“ said Ragini Srivastava, principal.
This is the last year of school and board-based exam pattern for CBSE students.
