Polls to not delay CBSE board exams

Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class X and Class XII board exams would not be delayed on account of the assembly polls in five states in February and March.

However, no exam would be held on March 4, 8 and 11. Board officials said the exam schedule would be issued next week.

CBSE had written to the chief election commissioner to keep in mind the schedule for board exams, usually held in March and April, while scheduling the polls dates. Earlier this week the commission notified the dates for the State Assemblies of five states.

CBSE chairperson R K Chaturvedi said: “There will be no delay in the exams due to the elections.We will now schedule our time table keeping in mind the election dates so that there is no clash. Therefore, there will be no exams on March 4, 8 and 11.“

According to CBSE sources, the exams will start from March 1. Chaturvedi said the complete schedule will be issued next week.
