NEET Cut off 2019 - Percentile Mode

NEET 2019 Cut off is stipulated in the form of percentile instead of specific marks. Percentile represents a number where a certain percentage of scores fall below that number. Hence, it relies on the candidates’ performance when compared to the performance of others. For instance, the NEET Cut off 2019 which is 50thpercentile for unreserved category candidates, implies that a candidate is required to score more than 50% of candidates belonging to the specific category. The percentile mode of NEET Cut off 2019 also ensures that factors like the number of test takers and the preparation level of test takers are also taken into consideration to maintain the fairness of the exam.

How to calculate NEET Cut off Percentile?

NEET cutoff percentile is the relative performance of a candidate against the performance of all the candidates. This implies, the percentile score of the candidate will reflect the percentage of students who have scored below that particular candidate. As per the information released by NTA, the percentile will be determined on the basis of highest marks scored in the All India common merit list. Therefore, the marks of the topper will be considered against the marks of a candidate to calculate NEET cut off percentile.

NEET Cut off 2019: Tie-Breaker Criteria

The tie-breaker criteria are used to allot NEET AIR when two or more candidates score equal marks. On the basis of the tie-breaker criteria, the NEET merit list 2019 will be prepared. The below-mentioned steps in the order of preference are followed to break the tie:

  • Marks in Biology in NEET 2019: Candidate who obtains more marks in the Biology (Botany and Zoology) section will be given preference over the one who has scored lesser marks.

  • Marks in Chemistry in NEET 2019: If the above criterion fails, then the candidate obtaining more marks in the Chemistry will be placed above those with lesser marks.

  • Number of Wrong Answers: In case the tie remains after considering the above-mentioned criteria, then the candidate who has given least number of wrong answers will be preferred over the ones with more number of incorrect number of responses.

  • Age: If the tie still persists, then the candidate who is older in age will be preferred over the younger ones.

What is NEET Percentile Score?

NEET Percentile Score is the minimum score which should be obtained to qualify NEET 2019.

  • It is calculated on the basis of candidate’s relative position in comparison to other rank holders.
  • NEET All India Rank is calculated on the basis of absolute score obtained by them in NEET.

NEET Percentile is determined on the basis of highest marks scored in All India Merit List. Also, if under certain categories sufficient students fails to achieve the minimum marks then the Central Government and MCI may lower the minimum marks for the respective categories (as mentioned in the information brochure).

NEET Result 2019

The result has been declared on June 5. The mode of release of NEET 2019 result is only online. The NEET result which is issued in the form of a scorecard will contain the marks scored in the exam and NEET AIR. The scorecard also confirms whether the candidate has qualified the exam on the basis of NEET Cut off 2019. With the NEET AIR, the merit list is prepared most likely by NTA and provided to DGHS and state counselling authorities. NEET 2019 merit list will be prepared in two formats - an overall merit list and category-wise merit list.

NEET Counselling 2019

The counselling of NEET 2019 is likely to begin from the third week of June. Candidates who will score more than or equal to the NEET Cut off 2019 will become eligible to participate in the counselling process. The counselling for 15% All India Quota seats will be conducted by DGHS on behalf of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) in two rounds. DGHS is also the responsible body for conducting the counselling for Deemed and Central Universities, ESIC Colleges and AFMC, Pune. The counselling authorities of state and union territories will be in control of the state quota seats in government and private colleges, management quota and NRI quota seats in private colleges. Interested candidates must register themselves with respective counselling authorities in order to participate in the counselling processes. The number of seats for each category will be displayed by the regulatory bodies before the NEET counselling 2019 starts.

NEET Seat Allotment 2019

Since, the admission to medical and dental courses is taken on the basis of the merit cum preference, therefore, the seat allotment result is declared after the counselling process is concluded. NEET seat allotment 2019 indicates the allotted college and course to the candidates after each round of counselling. The least score of a candidate which has obtained admission in a particular college will become the NEET Cut off 2019 of that particular college.
