NEET Cut off 2019 - Percentile Mode

NEET 2019 Cut off is stipulated in the form of percentile instead of specific marks. Percentile represents a number where a certain percentage of scores fall below that number. Hence, it relies on the candidates’ performance when compared to the performance of others. For instance, the NEET Cut off 2019 which is 50thpercentile for unreserved category candidates, implies that a candidate is required to score more than 50% of candidates belonging to the specific category. The percentile mode of NEET Cut off 2019 also ensures that factors like the number of test takers and the preparation level of test takers are also taken into consideration to maintain the fairness of the exam.

How to calculate NEET Cut off Percentile?

NEET cutoff percentile is the relative performance of a candidate against the performance of all the candidates. This implies, the percentile score of the candidate will reflect the percentage of students who have scored below that particular candidate. As per the information released by NTA, the percentile will be determined on the basis of highest marks scored in the All India common merit list. Therefore, the marks of the topper will be considered against the marks of a candidate to calculate NEET cut off percentile.

NEET Cut off 2019: Tie-Breaker Criteria

The tie-breaker criteria are used to allot NEET AIR when two or more candidates score equal marks. On the basis of the tie-breaker criteria, the NEET merit list 2019 will be prepared. The below-mentioned steps in the order of preference are followed to break the tie:

  • Marks in Biology in NEET 2019: Candidate who obtains more marks in the Biology (Botany and Zoology) section will be given preference over the one who has scored lesser marks.

  • Marks in Chemistry in NEET 2019: If the above criterion fails, then the candidate obtaining more marks in the Chemistry will be placed above those with lesser marks.

  • Number of Wrong Answers: In case the tie remains after considering the above-mentioned criteria, then the candidate who has given least number of wrong answers will be preferred over the ones with more number of incorrect number of responses.

  • Age: If the tie still persists, then the candidate who is older in age will be preferred over the younger ones.
